The Blyth Bullets Bantam girls broomball team played in the Ontario Provincial Broomball Championships in Barrie this past weekend. They started off with the first game against the Windsor Devils. The Bullets played well keeping pace with the Devils. P art way through the second period the Devils scored to take the lead. The Bullets stayed in the game and put some pressure on the Devils defence. In the dying seconds of the game the Bullets line of Melissa VanSchaik, Laura Souch and Jasmine Mason came through with VanSchaik scoring to tie the game and put it into overtime. The Riot scored in overtime to take the win. The Bullets second game was against Palmerston Pandas. The Bullets came out flying. Kendal Black-McNee, Keyonia Johnston and Carlene Bremner came down the ice with Johnston getting the goal in the first minute of play. The Pandas picked up their game and got some heart-stopping chances around the Blyth net. But Stephanie Hummel kept the ball out with help from her defence Play on The Bantam mixed team from Wingham Golf and Curling Club competed in the Zone 14 competition in Teeswater, Feb. 13 and 14 and won the B title to advance to the Regional competition in Simcoe on March 13 and 14.
