THE FAMILY AND I went for
a drive in the country last
Sunday and I’m convinced that
spring is the most beautiful
season. Green grass on rolling
hills, trees waking up after
their long winter sleep—to me,
there’s nothing like it.
Speaking of grass, it’s al
ways a good feeling to look
forward to spring and plenty
of grass. But there’s some
good advice for dairymen we
just got from the. Purina Re
search Farm.
. Don’t depend entirely on
grass to hold up milk produc
tion during spring and sum
mer. We’ve found pasture
alone just can’t hold up body
■condition and milk production.
If her ration does not contain
the proper variety of proteins,
minerals and vitamins, the
cow draws from her bones,
blood and flesh. Soon she’s
run down and milk production
is off—and you’ll have an ex
pensive time of it building her
back up.
