The meeting was opened with the Christmas hymn, “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing”, followed by prayer by Mrs. De Viller- Mrs. Gates read the scripture. Mrs. Parker gave a splendid talk on Christ and the Home. Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted. Financial re­ port was given, showing a bal­ ance of $68.55 in bank. Four new members were recorded. A motion was made by Mrs. K, Hodgins and seconded by Mrs. Parker that six hymn books for the choir be purchased. It was also moved that Mrs. Parker see about purchasing new markers for the church. A social half hour was enjoyed, all members taking part in a “vegetable ' quiz", after which Christmas gifts were exchanged. The Guild accepted an invita­ tion to a card party on February 16 at the rectory in Ailsa Craig. Mrs. Elston invited the Guild to her home for the February meet­ ing. W.M.S. The January meeting of the' W.M.S. was held in the school room of the United Church on Tuesday evening. Miss Flossie Davey was leader and opened the meeting with scripture reading and prayer. A passage of scrip­ ture was read by Mrs. A. McFalls followed by prayer. The study book was taken by Mrs. A. McFalls, Mrs. Frank Hicks, Mrs. George McFalls and Miss Flossie Davey, and depicted a travel through Europe. The need for clothing and food for children in Korea was stressed. Mrs. M. Elliott presided for the business. A letter of appre­ ciation was read from the Gode­ rich shelter for the parcel of Christmas gifts. Minutes were adopted and roll call was an­ swered by 14 members. Annual reports were given. Choir Attends Service The members of the United Church choir attended the service in James Street United Church, Exeter, on Friday evening. Fol­ lowing the service, they met at the home of the choir leader, Mrs. K. Hodgins, for practice and lunch. Officers elected were: Presi­ dent, Donna Bowden; secretary, Blanche Morgan; treasurer, Mary Margaret Essery; gown commit­ tee, Mrs. Reg Hodgson, Marina Bowden; social committee, Bur­ ton and Norman Morgan, Mrs. K. Hodgins and Mrs. Reg Hodgson. Personal Items Mr. Roy Harrison visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hodgins at Owen Sound. Master Dale McAllister, young­ est son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mc­ Allister, underwent an operation for appendicitis last week. Mr. Andrew Hicks, who was taken to Victoria Hospital, Lon­ don, on Tuesday of last week, was later removed to the Listowel hospital where he is receiving treatment. Mrs. Hicks is staying at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. Henry, in Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrison were Saturday evening dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Scott, Clandeboye. In last week’s write-up, men­ tion was not made of the fact that the visit to Tweedsmuir Hall in London was made possible through the efforts of Mr. Ray Lammie. Miss Wilda Pollock, R.N., of Kitchener, was a weekend guest with Mr. and Mrs. Lome Hicks. Mr. and Mrs. Don Dixon, Ailsa Craig, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. C. Rowe. The Women’s Association are sponsoring a play, “Mystery In The Night”, by Kirkton Anglican Young People, in the United Church on Friday evening. Monday evening guests at the home of Mrs. T. Willis were Mr. and Mrs. John Ridley, Elimville, and Mr. and Mrs. L. Davey, Ex­ eter.
