Urge More Weed Spray
A resolution, passed at
meeting, will be forwarded
the agricultural committee of
Huron C-ounty
that the council
use more weed
roads. Several
that in some instances the county
mower operated in their particu
lar areas, after the weeds had
gone to seed. *
W. R. Dougall, county weed in

is something that applies to every
farmer. He said that there were
in 1953, six townships in the
county that sprayed all their
roads, while several others stay

“Weeds are moisture-soapers,
they lower the grade of crops,
they harbor insects and they in
crease the cost of production.
Weed losses in Ontario, are re

acre,” concluded the inspector.
G. W. Montgomery, in his re

viewed the first annual banquet
being held, a bus trip to the
provincial convention, the Seed
Fair in March in which 59 ex
hibitors submitted close to 150
exhibits; a twilight meeting in
July; a one-day bus trip in Au
gust to Lincoln county; a county

in October.

Minor Hockey schedule started I
November 21 and from start
to finish it was a bang-up affair.
The games begin at 8 a.m.
One little fellow who went to
bed early the night before just
couldn’t sleep and was up at 6
a.m. and reached the arena be
fore 7. One father related how
his lad had tried on his hockey
uniform three or four times the
night before.
They’re eager beavers, every
one, and after each game what
a problem to keep them off the
ice. “Can I help referee?” or
"Can I keep the score with my
skates on?” are only a couple of
the queries. With enthusiasm
such as this, I think we should be
careful to maintain this attitude
and channel this bundle of energy
