on the short end of the score in
their last two outings, both at
home, in OHA Junior D.
Hockey.
After streaking into first
place with some great hockey,
the club lost their drive against
Tavistock and Mitchell. With
several key players out of the
lineup in the Tavistock game,
the Mustangs saw Tavistock pour
it on in the second for four goals
and add two more in the third,
winning 7-4.
Stu Mustard and Gord Riley
gave Mustangs a 2-1 edge at the
end of the first period but then
in the space of a minute and a
half, Tavistock fired three goals.
Ron Graham scored his
eighth goals of the season on the
next play set up by Mustard.
Midway through the second,
Clinton picked up a flukey goal
by Wayne Arthur. Just as Arthur
let go his wicked shot, the
Tavistock goalie fell on his back
and the shot went over top of
him into the net.
Although Tavistock won the
game, the locals actually outshot
Tavistock 46.36.
MITCHELL WINS
Again on Friday night, it was
a case of lack of drive that led to
the team's downfall.

The annual trip to Clinton,
New York, was made early this
year, with the Clinton Bantam
team accompanying the Pee
Wees to the United States on
Friday, Dec. 3.
On Friday night the boys
beat their long-time rivals by a
7-2 count. All three units shared
the scoring with Jamie
Thompson picking up two goals,
Rob McAdam, Mike Gibbings,
Dave Archibald, Steve Cook and
Neil Colquhoun with one each.
Saturday morning a
Princeton, New Jersey, team
proved a bit too much for
Clinton who saw the new
opponents hit for three goals in
the third period for a 5-2 win.
The local boys were not
outplayed by this margin but ran
into a little goalie who robbed
them on a number of sure goals.
goals.
Sunday, before leaving, New
Jersey again beat Clinton, this
time 3.1 in what is considered
just a get-away game for fun.
Once again the little New Jersey
goalie was hot — hotter than
before or the score might have
been reversed, Paul Priestap was
the Clinton scorer.
Including this series, the
Bantams have played nine
games, four of them in
pre-season action, two league
games and the New York
tournament and have a record of
seven wins and two losses. They
have scored 46 goals while
holding their opponents to 23.
Mitchell will be the
opposition Saturday evening at
7:15,
Rick Sowerby and Dennis
Lassaline getting assists at 1:12
and 4:08. Buck Million scored
from Dodds again at 4:46 and
Steve Doak dumped the puck in
on a play from Del Bedard and
John Hodges at 4:46 and 5:34.
Del Bedard then scored for
DRMCO with the assistance of
Jim Farrish at 18;24 of the final
period to wind up the scoring,
In the weekly double header
at Goderich, Sifto Salt's goal
tender Rick Duckworth chalked
up a shutout against DRMCO as
that game wound up in a 5.0
score.
Jim McIver made good at
3:01 from Jim McAstocker for
Sifto and Ken Daer made it 2-0
from McAstocker at 13;48 in
the first period. Wayne Draper
scored unassisted at 13:48 of the
second period to add one more
and in the filial 20 minutes Tom
Crawford scored from Ken Daer
and Jim McAstocker went in
alone to wind it up.
The game was marred by one
fight when. Butch Fleet of
DRMCO and Wayne Draper of
Sifto mixed it up in the last
minute of the third period. They
both drew two minute minors
for the infraction.
The other game on Sunday's
schedule also ended in a shut-out
as Bayfield downed the Juveniles
3.0. Gary Black was credited
with the shut-out.
Don Bartliff scored at 6:26 of
the first from Dave Wilkinson to
start things rolling, ,Grant
Volland scored at 4:06 of the
second from Dan Freeman and
then scored a second one
unassisted at the 47 second mark
of the final time slot to wrap it
up.
League standing now show
Sifto Salt out in front with 13
points having won six, lost one
and tied one. Building Centre
and Bayfield are tied for second
with identical records of four,
two and two for 10 points.
The Juveniles are a more
distant third having lost four
games to date compared to three
wins and no ties, giving them six
points. The Juveniles were last
year's champs but seem to be
having trouble so far this season.
DRMCO is tied for third with
three wins, six losses and no tie
games for six points as well and
Holmesville seems to have taken
up permanent residence in the
cellar with three points from one
win and a tie but six losses to
their credit.
This Sunday's double header
see DRMCO meeting Bayfield
and Building Centre takes on the
Juveniles. On Tuesday at Clinton
Holinesvile will see action
against Bayfield and back in
Goderich on Wednesday Sifto
Salt will play the Juveniles.
