Wednesday evening Nov. 24,

Hall for their meeting.
When we were all together we
decided to have a Christmas
Party Programme, and also to
sell calendars to raise funds to
help support the district.
BAYFIELD BROWNIES
We opened with our Brownie
and Tweenie Song.
Laura Tammon told us about
Brownies in South America,
We began practicing our
Christmas programme which we
are presenting at the United
Church, Dec. 11; and on Dec. 16
we are accompanying the
Anglican Church Ladies to
Huronview to present a
programme to the residents
there between 7 and 8 o'clock
in the evening.
We are looking forward to
Christmas and these events; and
are doing our best to memorize
our parts.
We closed our meeting with
Brownie Song and prayer.

"AIN'T IT THE
TRUTH"
'The horse and mule, live thirty
years
And nothing know of wine or
beers,
The goat and sheep they also die
And never taste of scotch or rye.
The cow drinks water by the ton
And at 18 years is nearly done.
Without the aid of rum or gin
The dog at fifteen cashes in.
The cat in milk and water soaks
And then in 12 short years it
croaks.
The modest, sober, bone-dry hen
Lays eggs for nogs then dies at
ten.
All animals are strictly dry,
They sinless live and swiftly die.
But sinful, Gin-full, rum soaked
men,
Survive to three-score years and
ten.
And some of us — a mighty few
Keep drinking 'till we're 92.
The Sea Scouts still have a
few bushels of apples left that
they picked (and which were
donated by Mr. Willits.), the
proceeds of which will go to the
refurbishing the Old Town Hall.
If you are in need of some, Pat
Graham will accomodate you.
WATERFRONT YARNS,
"HEARD IN THE LEE OF
THE LONG BOAT"
Bayfield Wharf Rats met on
Nov. 27 at the home of Miss
Nannette Quillette in Goderich.
All rats, bar four, were in
attendance. Some new members
were accepted into the growing
organization.
Details of earlier plans were
discussed in regards to the New
Year's Party to be held in The
Cluster in Bayfield.
New members are Mr. George
Brown of Stratford; sponsored
by Mr. Rob Gordon of
Stratford. George Brown captain
of "Duet" named "Pot".
Reasons for his acceptance; his
boat was as dirty as any other
boat; and his conduct in the past
year was as much that of a rat as
anybody.
Mr. Ozzie Gatehouse,
Brampton was sponsored by
Commadore Bruce MacDonald
of Goderich. Mr. Gatehouse,
Captain of "H-24" named
"Ananymous," his acceptance
was because he has a good
looking wife.
Mr. Peter Keil, Gorrie, Mr.
Brian Sanderson, Wroxeter,
sponsored by Captain Crunch,
Woodstock; owners of a
Mackinaw Schooner named,
"Sandy Keel" were accepted for
their musical talents. Total
membership is 12 Captains.
Point of interest — A wedding
was held during the evenings
events, "Gretna Green" style.
Bride was Marion Reed and
groom Peter Keil. This ceremony
Sunday, NOV. 28, Bosun's mate
Michael Gozzard and Sea Scout
Tommy Telford, sailed the.
Seascout boat in the river.
An excerpt. of a poem by
John Masefield entitled "Sea
Fever Ahead" was brought to
mind.
I must down to the seas again;
for the call of the running
tide,
Is a wild call and a clear call,
that may not be denied,
And all I ask is a windy day with
the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the
blown spume, and the
seagulls crying,
I N OW OPEN.
