"AIN'T IT THE TRUTH" 'The horse and mule, live thirty years And nothing know of wine or beers, The goat and sheep they also die And never taste of scotch or rye. The cow drinks water by the ton And at 18 years is nearly done. Without the aid of rum or gin The dog at fifteen cashes in. The cat in milk and water soaks And then in 12 short years it croaks. The modest, sober, bone-dry hen Lays eggs for nogs then dies at ten. All animals are strictly dry, They sinless live and swiftly die. But sinful, Gin-full, rum soaked men, Survive to three-score years and ten. And some of us — a mighty few Keep drinking 'till we're 92. An excerpt. of a poem by John Masefield entitled "Sea Fever Ahead" was brought to mind. I must down to the seas again; for the call of the running tide, Is a wild call and a clear call, that may not be denied, And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the seagulls crying, I N OW OPEN. \
