After two wins last week, the
Clinton Mustangs dropped two
this week,
In Lucan last Wednesday the
club suffered an 8.2 setback.
The Mitchell came from behind
for a 7.5 victory in Clinton
Friday.
The Lucan game was a
wide-open game with no
checking. Although Clinton
outplayed the Irish for nearly all
the first period, Lucan took
advantage of several miscues and
fired five goals to none by
Clinton.
Bill McDougall finished off a
nice play set up by Gord Riley
an'd .,brother Wayne to put
Clinton on the board finally.
After only 34 seconds of the
third, Gary Cummings broke in
on a breakaway for the other
Clinton goal.
David Slade replaced Fred
German midway through the
second period in the net. The
club missed a good many scoring
chances whereas Lucan
capitalized on every
opportunity.
Again on Friday night, the
Mustangs had Mitchell on the
ropes. This time they built up a
5-3 lead only to fall apart in the
final five minutes, allowing
Mitchell to hit for four goals in
the third.
Newcomer John McKinley
deflected in a shot from Wayne
Arthur to open the scoring in
the first period, With only a
minute left in the period,
Mitchell tied the score when
David Slade, trying to trap the
puck, knocked the rebound shot
into the net. Coach Bill Weber
moved Dave Fawcett up to the
wing with Stu Mustard and Ron
Graham in the second and the
line eonnected on three goals,
Fawcett drilled in a hot shot on
a clearing pass from Mustard at
5:42 of the second.
Fawcett drilled in a hot shot
on a clearing pass from Mustard
at 5:42 of the second. Then
Mustard tied the score on a
breakaway when Graham hit
him with a perfect pass up the
centre.
Mitchell put in two quick
ones to go ahead 3.2 on a power
play and on a two-on-one break.

Johnston changed with Fawcett
on a quick line change and
Graham and Mustard passed to
him for a 15-foot shot.
Terrible puck clearing and a
general let down opened the way
for Mitchell's four stunning goals
late in the period.
Booster winners were Jim
Patterson and lucky draw winner
was Mrs. Len Fawcett.
