I am convinced that the

If we pursue co-operative
solutions through consultation
at the federal, provincial and
municipal levels.
I have consistently urged this
approach since 1968, before the
deactivation of Clinton was
announced. Over the past three
years, however, the federal
government has not agreed to
one single meeting toward this
end.
As a matter of record, Crown

secondary industry.
Employment opportunities, be
they rural or urban, are a
problem. Evidence for this is to
be found in the continuous
out-migration of young people
from our County.
The solutions are twofold:
First, a strengthening of the
farm community and second,
the development of existing
industry coupled with the
planned and even distribution of
secondary industries in the
Towns and urbanized areas. I
believe the policy of the New
Democratic government as far as
industrial decentralization goes
would help to solve this very
difficult problem.
Herein lies the solution to
providing more opportunities for
youth in Huron. 1 have also
contended that opportunities for
post-secondary education in
Huron be explored. I know we
have the Agricultural College at
Huron Park, but Community
College services have merit, as
well.
Any other topic of your choice;
The New Democratic Party is
relatively new in Huron. It is not
new in Ontario and other parts
of Canada. The governments of'
Manitoba and Saskatchewan
have proven that the NDP is a
viable alternative. My concern
here is that many of our citizens
will not vote on October 21; (a)
because they will not vote
Conservative or Liberal and (b)
because they are suspicious
about us. The suspicions have
been bred by either
Misinformation or lack of it, We
are working our hardest to place
our ideas before the people, We
have no desire to argue with
them, but we do desire their
objective examination of these
ideas.

Aftera brief statement of
Progressive Conservative policy,
Mr, Macleaughton proceeded to

hour. The questions centered
around issues which are
becoming well-known to Huron
county; the pollution at
Listowel, the conservation area
to be created at Hullett, the lack
of job opportunities etc.
The students seemed
interested in his answers,
although judging by
conversation, some thought Mr.
MaeNaughton to be a little
evasive,
