The United Church Women
held their October meeting on
Thursday evening of last week
with the president, Mrs. William
Dowson leading, She gave a
Thanksgiving meditation. Mrs.
Ron Taylor read the scripture
and read "Let us give thanks."
Mrs. Charles Reid gave the
meditation. Prayer was given by
Mrs. Ron Taylor.
There were 35 calls made to
sick and shut-ins during
September. A thank you letter
was read from Mission Services
of London for the bale of useful
articles which was sent recently.
Mrs. Fred McClymnont took the
offering and it was dedicated by
Mrs. Perce Johnston. Plans were
made for a bake sale and booth
at the auction sale on Oct. 23.
The meeting was closed by Mrs.
Ron Taylor and group two
served lunch.

EXPLORERS
The first meeting of the
Varna Explorers was held last
Tuesday with 11 members
present and Mrs. Pat Taylor and
Mrs. Sharon Chuter as leaders.
The officers elected were:
Bev Cantelon, president; Brenda
Dawson, secretary; Janis Chuter,
treasurer; and Sandra Webster,
press reporter,
Bev, Cantelon opened the
meeting. Roll call was answered
by naming a book of the Bible,
The offering was taken by
Luanne Taylor and the offering
prayer was given by Ann Marie
Heard. The president closed the
meeting with the Explorer
prayer.
The Brucefield II Buttercups
held their sixth meeting at the
home of Linda Coleman on Oct.
5.
Dairy Desserts using milk,
butter, cheese and cream were
discussed, Kathy Lawrence,
Rhonda Richardson and Karen
Whitmore brought the
ingredients and made cheese
cake, Faye Cantelon and Kathy
Tomkins served it. Achievement
Day Plans were continued from
last week.

On Oct, 6 the Clinton IV club
met at the home of Isabel
Gibson for the sixth meeting. We
opened the meeting with the
4--H pledge. We dismissed what
we should do for a skit on
Achievement Day.
The demonstrations were
done by Christine Carter who
stirred up some "cocoa" and
Marlene Dale baked the "cheese
cake".

The Clintonian Club held its
October meeting at the home of
Mrs. Esther Kendall on Thursday
afternoon Oct, 7.,
The President, opened the
meeting with a poem followed
by the Housewife's Creed and
The Lords' Prayer in unison. The
secretary read the minutes of the
last meeting and a letter from
the Muscular Dystrophy
Association of Canada and one
from The Canadian National
Institute for the Blind,
Donations sent to each,
Roll call was answered by 18
members stating their way to
relax. A very good treasurer's
report was given by Mrs. V.
Lampman. The flower report
was given by Mrs. H. Adams.
There had been 19 hospital and
27 home calls made to sick and
shut-ins the past month.
Work committee has two
quilts to be quilted at an early
date. Discussion on the
Anniversary Party in
mid-November took
considerable time. Final
