Probe at the University of
Toronto, with his committee of
contributing authors have
written this book as a statement
of deep concern about pollution.
Pollution is the issue of this
decade; if we fail in this span on
years to control all of its aspects,
we shall have lost the biggest
prize of all survival. As he says
in the preface "It's up to each
and every one of us to ensure
that this does not happen, Let us
heed the voice of youth, as
expressed in this book".

Historic memento presented to Seaforth
A historical gavel and plaque
were presented to the town of
Seaforth Library on January 12
by Major F.A. Golding, Base
Commander, CFB Clinton, on
behalf of the Golding family.
The gavel and plaque
belonged to Major Golding's
father, the late Senator W.H.
Golding, who represented Huron
County as a member of
Parliament and later as a Senator
continuously from 1932 until
his death in 1961. The gavel and
plaque were presented to
Senator Golding In 1947 by the
late Rt. Hon. W. L, Mackenzie
King, the Prime Minister of
Canada. °
Of special interest is the fact
the gavel and plaque were made
from wood salvaged from the
wreck of the S.S. Beaver which
was the first steamship on the
Pacific Coast. The S.S. Beaver
was built in England in 1835 and
was wrecked on the rocks
outside the First Narrows in
1888. The wood for gavel and
plaque was donated by the
Hudson Bay Co. of Canada.

How are you going to know?
Hitler set fire to the Reichstag
in Germany and blamed it on
the communists so he could ask
the government for absolute
power to save the land from
danger. By the time the people
learned the truth, Germany was
hated by the world, bombed to
ruins, and half of it was held by
the communists.
General Rene Schneider of
Chile is dead. A Marx -oriented
socialist had been elected to
swing the power of the Childean
government to the left. But, the
murder was done by the far -right
to force the nation into an
uproar and collapse, so that the
fascists could take over power
and run the communists out,
(Many, many Nazis who fled
Germany after World War II, hid
out in South America and make
their homes there today.
Schneider, itself, is not exactly a
Spanish -type name!)
Rumors persist that the
Campus botnbings in the United
States are as often the work of
the right-wing reactionaries as
the work Of left-wing radicals, to
create occasions to blame the
leftists. The S.D.S., a leftist
organization, has neither as
many arms nor as much money
as a fat -right youth group which
G.K[
hopes to oppose, even violently,
the "commie threat," The fact
remains that more bombings do
occur on open, liberal -oriented
campuses than an those
campuses controlled by
conservative/reactionary power.
Reports come in from time to
time that it is the police,
themselves, in cities that are
owned by the Birch -type
fascists, who are helping to hide
out the leaders of militant
tight -wing groups like the
Minutemen, In Oklahoma City, a
centre was established to enable
contact with the drug
underworld, but the District
Attorney, himself aware of the
nature of the situation and its
needs, raided the centre to get
votes just before election.
Stories from federal prisons are
that political prisoners are
denied the rights given to them
by the laws their captors are
breaking in denying them!
I remember with horror two
photographs printed side by
side: Nazi soldiers dragging a
native Polish patriot to death
behind a military vehicle because
he resisted them; and American
soldiers in Vietnam dragging a
native patriot to death behind a
military vehicle because he
resisted them,
There is a Kingdom, from
beyond this sphere, which can
bring Heavers to reality now,
