juvenile squad, the ^Legionnaires
have brought un Kent Hedley,

the Intermediate ranks. These
boys, have helped strengthen the

playoff series with ‘ Centralia
wfyich they lost- 2 games, to 1. ,
However- because of a - protest

Centralia team, along with Clin
ton RCAF team, were moved into.
“A” ball and Lucknow was ah
lowed to continue in the playoffs

time and lie baffled the locals

Centralia got 3 runs to nab a

Spent the first, couple of days
trying to get a cantankerous lino
type working as it should—and
still Haven’t succeeded. Then we

cury got up to 90.

we have no intention of outlining
the three-day activity packed
convention, which was followed

Ford- plant at Oakville arid a
Thursday evening buffet supper
tour of the new'Pure Food Build
ing and a preview of the grand
stand- show as< guests of the
C.N.E. Board of Directors.
. A home economics convention
was being held at the same time
and we spotted, .Miss,1 M»ry 'Port-
eous at the tegistatibn desk, and
“ran into her”"occasionally after-
that. '

A. Barber of Chilliwack. Charlie,
a retired veteran of 54 years 'in
the weekly newspaper . business,
was employed- by The Lucknow
Sentinel at the turn of the cen
tury. His son, Les Berber, is now
at the Helm of the’.Chilliwack
progress and Was - present at the
convention to see his -father.hon
ored. Mr. Barber is a nephew , of
Mrs./, Ellen McNalEof Lucknow.
Rrxton W. Rafter, blind .since
childhood and publisher .of'. The
.Arthur-lEnterpfise for. '45 years,
was . another of five newspaper
men/who reecived life member
ships. •
The Port Elgin Times and Mild-
may> Gazette were two J3ruqe Co.
papers which stood high in their
class in the newspaper competi'-'
