_ EXPECT ENROLMENT TO BE
UP AT TEACHERS’ COLLEGE
! During the school week irn-
mediately following the Easter
holidays, staff members from the
Teachers’ College, Stratford, vis
ited secondary schools in their
area and interviewed candidates
for the orie-year course and the
two-year course. The results of
these interviews were announced
by Dr. H. Bowers at a meeting
of the Committee of Selection
held in the Teachers’ College re
cently. Dr. Bowers reported that
165 students plan to enter the.
one-year course ’and that 43 plan
to enter the two-year course.
When these-candidates are added
to the group at present in attend
ance in the first year of the two-
year course and to those who will
be returning for their year of
professional training after two
summer courses and two years of
teaching, the total will be well
over two hundred. This increase
in enrolment is particularly grat
ifying because of the shortage of
teachers, •Which, it -is, predicted,
may last for a number of years.
