Due to the pressing need of
care for, our elder citizens, the
provincial government has' re
cently announced a plan of home
care supervised by the depart
ment. .This is a special type of
work, especially if the aged heed
medical care. The success of the
plan depends on finding, enough
suitable places, and people who
are capable enough to give the
proper care. Smaller homes are
being built today. Many people'
do not stay - at home long, enough
to enjoy. itrTet’ alone take care
of-ahother “boarderw”_Ohe^musr
give the proper, patient,' loving
care to make the older folks feel
at home. Many people are not
taking care of their own senior
relatives, let alone care, for
Others. The line of least resists
ance is to let grandmother, or
grandfather, 'be cared for in an
institution. Even „though very
good cai’e is given -in institutions
for the aged, they can never sub
stitute for the loving Christian
care of the home atmosphere of
their own kith and.kin. One can
not but help admire those who
want to enjoy the independence
of their own home as long as
possible. The church could take
the initiative in the community,
in seeing that these people are
cared for, A system' of regular
visits could be arranged.. These
elder people treasure the visit Of
a Christian friend who, corries in
,th‘e name of a church. Here is. a
practical plan of Christian, social
service activity for/ the church.
