of the sudden death of her
youngest brother, Frank Bedard,
Of Detroit, Micb,, a former
native. of Hay Township who
died at his home NOV. 30, He
'Was 66.
Surviving are his wife and four
sons; a brother, Oliver, of Sarnia;
two .sisters, Mrs. Desch of
,Hensall and Mrs. Annie Grigg of
London and five grandchildren..
Funeral services were held in
Detroit Wednesday, Dee, 3.
Attending the funeral were Mrs.
Oesch of Hensall, Mr, and Mrs.
ftusell Oesch and Mrs. Earl
Flakbard of Zurich.
GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
Mr, and Mrs. Roy F. White,
31 Bruce Street, London,
observed their 50th wedding
anniversary Dec. 3 with a family
dinner at Glen Allen Restaurant,
followed by open house in their
home.
They were married in Hensall,
and have lived for many years in
the South London area.
' Mr. White is a retired
employee of the Dominion
Rubber Company where he
served 38 years,
They have two sons, a
daughter, 11 grandchildren and
six foster granchildren.
PLAN CARNIVAL
Hensall organizations are
grouping together to plan a giant
Winter Carnival Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
Proceeds are to be turned over
to the arena for repairs.

reading. A pot-luck luncheon
closed the meeting.
Mrs. Mote and Mrs. Tom
O'Connell are to bring articles
for a Dutch auction at the Jan. 8
meeting when officers are
expected to have annual reports
ready.

improving slowly in St. Joseph

Miss Josephine •Stirling has
received word of the death of
her sister Mrs. Herbert Wallis of
Darcy, Sask.
Moggach leaves
Gilbert S. (Bert) Moggach, an
engineer on the Huron County
staff of the Ontario Dept. of
Agriculture and Food, resigned
his seat on the Seaforth Town
Council Monday evening and
disclosed that he has been
appointed farm management
specialist and program leader for
the four-county area of Bruce,
Grey, Dufferin and Simcoe.
'Mr. Moggach will' start wol•IP
in the new position on Jan. 1.
Don Pullen, Huron
agricultural representative, was
in Toronto Tuesday and further
information was not
immediately available. It is not
known who will replace Mr.
Moggach in the Huron
engineering post.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The December meeting of the
W.I. was opened with Christmas
poems. Roll call was answered
by Christmas customs in the
home, 4-H leaders, Mrs, Harry
Snell, Mrs. Langill, Mrs. Watkins
and Mrs. Doug Snell received
gifts in appreciation of their
leadership during the 4-H club
course. Mrs. Glen Carter and
Mrs. Harry Snell also received a
gift in token of their fine
demonstration of "The Main
Dish Makes the Meal" having
given freely of their time at the
two-day short course held in
Seaforth recently. A nice
assortment of Christmas
decorations fashioned by Mrs.
Lloyd Pipe was on display. Mr.
Heckendorn, guest speaker, gave
an interesting talk on Christmas
and the value placed on
Christmas cards reminding of old
friends, a number of carols were
sung. A variety of articles were
auctioned by Mrs. Fairservice
which netted a tidy sum, A tasty
casserole supper was served by
the hostesses.
PERSONALS
Mr. Bert Brunsdon who was a
patient in the Brussels Nursing,
Home during the past summer
months is now a resident of
Westminster Hospital and is
adjusting favorably to the
change. Mrs. Brunsdon visited
with him on Sunday,
Mr. Jack Lee visited with his
wife on Sunday who underwent
surgery recently in Victoria
Hospital. He reports Helen is
making favorable progress. Her
many friends wish her a speedy
return to good health.
Miss Clara Bloor of Mount
Forest visited on Saturday with
Mrs. Bert.Brunsdon.
Fortune smiled on Benny
Riley last week when he won the
Lions Club draw which netted
him $1,000, Lucky Ben.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gardiner of
Kirkton visited last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Howalt.

The Christmas nleeting of
Unit 4 of Hensall UCW was held
Dee, 4 in -Fellowship Fall which
was beautifully decorated by the
hostess, Mrs. 11..,1, Paterson,
Mrs. J. McAllister presided
and .opened with 'the linfecatien.,
A highlight of the program was
piano duet by Mrs, T, $herritt
and Mrs. Grace Harpole, playing
a medley of Christmas hymns.
Mrs, Harold Currie conducted.
a carol and candle lighting
service, with Mrs. Stanley
Mitchell as .candle lighter and
Mrs. Mickle as pianist.
The study, on keeping
Christmas, taken from Miss
Ethel Chapman's book, "From. a
Roadside Window," was given
by Mrs. It. M. Peck,
The treasurer's report showed
a very good financial Year.
Visitation reports totalled 79
calls. There were 24 members
and two visitors present.
Mrs. McAllister reported a
large box of nylons .and used
cards .had been delivered and
accepted at the Blue Water Rest
Home and more to come. in.
Gifts wrapped and marked for
the collection for Goderich
Psychiatric Hospital are to be
brought in at the general
meeting on Dec. 15 or on
Sunday. The bale of seven large
boxes contained a lot of good
clothing and was dispatched to
Toronto right away after
packing.
The Christmas general
meeting will be held in the
church sanctuary with the
executive in charge. Each
Member is to bring someone
else.
Arrangements were made for
the nursery and flowers for the
month. A social fellowship hour .
followed.

Stan and special Christmas draw,
Mrs. Smale and Mrs. Harold
Thiel. Members exchanged gifts
and a Christmas lunch was
served. Twenty-nine members
were present.

Noble Grand Mrs. Elgin
Thompson chaired the regular
meeting of Amber Rebekah
Lodge Dec. 3 and Made final
plans for the annual Christmas
party Dec. 17 with exchange of
gifts among the members.
Vice Grand Mrs. Jack Taylor
reported a number of cards were
sent to shot-ins.

and their husbanda attended the
grand. master's banquet held at

Victoria :Hospital, London, Dec.

of 1-lensall; three brothers, Grant
of Caro, Mich., Boss of Clinton

grandchildren, Her husband died
several years ago.

Miss Ann Mickle, who is
attending Althouse College in
London, will be teaching two
weeks of this month in Waterloo
and while there will be staying
with her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Ross MacMillan and family.
Oliver Bedard of Sarnia, and
his daughter, Mrs. Bill Mallett of
London, England, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Oesch.
Mrs. R. Taylor Jr. of
Chiselhurst is a patient in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter.

Twitchell, Kimberley and Jamie
of London, visited over the
weekend with Mrs. Verna
Twitchell.

two-months tour of the southern
United States.
