Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Glew of The annual festival of the harvest thanksgiving was observed in St. James' Church, Middleton, last Sunday. The church was lavishly decorated for the occasion with a profusion of flowers, fruits, vegetables and vivid scarlet maple leaf branches. The rector, the Rev. E. J. B. Harrison, was in charge of the service, which was well attended. His text was Psalm 47:7, "God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding." HORSE SHOW The Blyth Agricultural Society's 105th fall fair was opened this year by the fifth annual horse show on Sept. 13, More than 500 attended and saddle classes predominated with 20 compared to 10 in the light and heavy horse classes. In the feature event, Roy Beuerman of Monkton won the musical chairs and wiener race. Douglas Ward of Monkton won the pickup race. Winners in the western saddle classes were Ross Leonhardt of Bornholm and Margaret Shobbrook of Blyth. In the Palomino class, Miss Shobbrook and Keith Moffat of Bluevale were the winners. Winners in the pony classes and races were 'Murray Edgar of Belgrave, Theresa Dale. of Clinton and John Koskerne of Blyth, ' In the four horse heavy hitch, .Eugene McLeod of Kincardine won oyer four other entries. In other 'heavy horse classes, top winners, were Andrew Catto of - fort Elgin, Oliver Bannerinan of Monkton, Russell Teeple and George Gregg both of Paisley. Cochrane, Huron County Director of education opened the fair after a parade of some 400 school children led by Seaforth District High School girls' trumpet band. The reserve champion sold for 35i/2 cents to Canada Packers consigned by Robert Snell of Londesboro.
