Clinton News-Record, 1969-07-10, Page 41Frelli My Window No need for notes Shirley Kesler Just when you think you've seen and heard enough so that you will not be surprised by 1 ar y thi ng else that happens,,ygu are suddenly faced with a new concept which is so utterly fantastic you cannot help but to be amazed. That's exactly what happened to me last week when I picked up the daily newspaper to read this snappy headline: Sex School Proposed. The dateline on the story was London, England, so I was immediately prepared for something wildly way-out. I wasn't disappointed. Seems that a British socialist has suggested a school where the art of making love would be taught to the boys. The story wasn't at all explicit about what age these lads would be, but I presume they would be in their early teens. The purpose of the course would be to explode the theory Clinton personals Miss Nina MacDonald, daughter of Mrs. Ron MacDonald, has returned to Vancouver, B.C., after a brief visit en route with Mr. and Mrs. James MacDonald in London. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart MacDonald and family of West Covina, California, are visiting with his mother, Mrs. Ron MacDonald, and family. Police Constable and Mrs. Gerald Shaddick and Tommy of Woodstock, and Carl and Marilyn Ward and family of Stratford spent the weekend with Clinton Constable and Mrs. Ab Shaddlck. Mrs, Marion Seeley of Clinton and Miss Mary MacMillan of Goderich Ieft last week for a tour of the British Isles, Miss MacMillan will return at the end of the month and Mrs. Seeley will go on to Germany to visit her son, Robert, and his family. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dalgleish of Clinton were visited this week by Mrs. Dalgleish's brother, Nelsonto. Sat r his 'fe and four children, from orlyalk, Calif, Also,visi_tmg was `TDalgieish's inother, " Mrs. Maud Salter of Parkhill. The Californians are going on to spend a week with relatives in Bowmanviile before again heading westward. Laurel Anne Bond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.`Lloyd Bond, RR 3, Clinton (Holmesville); passed her Grade II theory examination from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, with 'first class honours. Mr: and Mrs. Eric Switzer of Clinton are hosts for several weeks to Maryanne Taylor, 11, of Red Lake, Alta, Maryanne is the daughter of William and Betty (Switzer) Taylor and niece of Mr, Switzer and is visiting a dumber of relatives in the area this summer. that "doing what comes naturally" is outmoded and unsatisfactory, • Michael. Schofield, who has researched the sexual behaviour of young people .told the Family Planning Association's annual conference, "It must be made clear that a satisfactory sex life is not something that comes naturally." I wouldn't know Michael Schofield if I stepped right en his head—and I haven't the distinction to be an expert in any field, certainly not the sexual behaviour of young boys, Local witnesses go to convention Washington columnist Carl T. Rowan recently wrote: "We cling to the dream that we can have `peace on earth, good will toward men.' But a realistic look at human behavior in all parts of the world raises the question of whether there is any hope for mankind." Hunan behavior notwithstanding, there is no question about a hope for mankind and peace on earth among Jehovah's Witnesses. As an expression of •their confidence, the Witnesses are holding an eight-day "Peace on Earth" International Assembly in Buffalo, New York, and area witnesses are • present as delegates. Harl McNally of Clinton, presiding minister of the Clinton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, is Ieading the local delegation to the assembly, which is being held this week July 6-13 in Buffalo's War Memorial Stadium. According to Mr. McNally, more than 40,000 persons from all over the world are expected to attend.. "The convention theme is most appropriate," Mr. McNally said. "To Jehovah's Witnesses the expression "peace on earth," uttered by angels of heaven the .of es s birth, is not, an night, ,Jesus',, , empty one; leis full of meaning %, and, for us, has already becgine reality: _• "As if to ui:,uerline our confidence in the Bible's promise of peace on earth for the righteously inclined, the public lecture that will climax our assembly has been titled: "The Approaching Peace of a Thousand Years!" COMING NEXT: 'The Secret Life Of An Ahierican Wife' (Adult Entertainment) In echo -• mei 'The further Petits Of Laurel and Hardy' llut I'm willing to wager that a Schofield .Sex School would .be the biggest waste of time, energy and finances ever to hit the British educational system. I don't suggest that the students wouldn't enjoy their studies or that they couldn't learn something of benefit to. them when they first hop into the sack with a young lady of their choice. What I am suggesting is that a course in technique would reduce the honeymoon to little more than an application of a lesson. It would tend to eliminate the blundering excitement that makes life so wonderful for newlyweds. Take for instance, the fellow who comes to the nuptial bed with a head full of pre -conceived ideas about how the sex act should be performed. His blushing bride is not only embarrassed by her new role as a woman who must now give herself freely to her husband, but she is embarrassed by the fact that she is to be the focal point of an experiment that will determine how much hubby has absorbed in his sex classes. She is at a disadvantage because she is new at this pastime, but what is worse she feels her husband's attentions s are second-hand, as phony as a three -dollar bill. The kids in my generation didn't go to school to learn how to make love and believe it or not, many of them are happily married, too. Love is undoubtedly the magical ingredient in nine out of ten cases. That's where Mr. Schofield is missing the boat. The art of lovemaking may be a necessary study for the guy who wants to make it with any woman he can seduce, but for the fellow who loves only one gal and displays his love for her in so many little ways the playboy could never comprehend, that man will have no need for notes on how to make whoopee. Mother Nature can still produce the most thrills -• and chills for the• truly -devoted couple who, without formal lessons, have stumbled 'on the':` secrets of sexual satisfaction. Doing what comes naturally may be passe....but most women could take one ordinary joe with a heart full of love ahead of a truckload of fancy dans who learned passion from a textbook.
