Results of town league baseball The Cubs won their sixth straight game Monday night as they bombed the Expos in the fourth inning of a town league Squirt baseball game. Gordon Black, with three hits, and Steve Steep led the Cubs. Terry Gordon won his fifth game of the season. Gary Jordan has two hits for the losers. In the previous game, the league -leading Cubs defeated the Mets 24-8 with Terry Gardner and Steve Steep leading the attack with three hits each. D. Peterson and A. Levis tallied two hits apiece. , On May 26, the Cardinals were edged by the Cubs 18-17 in the first extra -inning game this season. The Cubs were forced to win in on a come -from -behind victory. They were down 12-1 after the second inning. • Steve Steep and Gord Black led the winnerswith two hits apiece and scored three times. The big guns for the Cardinals were Tom Colquhoun, Robert Harkes and Steve Jones, each of whom scored three runs. The Mets doubled the Expos' score to win that game 24-12. At the end of the second inning, the Expos were leading 9-8. G. Jordan, P. Kelly and D. Clynick each added two hits and two runs for the losing side. The winners were led by D. Peterson, J. McMahon, D. Proctor and' P. Priestap. Priestap and Hart each scored four times for the Mets. In Pee Wee play, the Yankees scored 12 runs in the first two innings and went on to defeat the Twins 18-.7. R. McAdam, P. Wheeler and R. Burns hit twice each for the Yanks. D. Engel and G. Cantelon also hit two each for their side. The Red Sox ground out a 10-4 win over the game but cellar club Twins. J. Amsing, R. Welch and C. Currie led the Sox with two hits, while G. Cantelon and G. Holmes , were Twins' leaders. The second -place Yankees, led by Steve Cook and Paul Wheeler, scored 12 runs in the third inning and eight runs in the fourth to beat the Red Sox 24-14. Wheeler hit his third home run of the season driving in three runs. Robbie Macaulay and R. Welch had three hits each for the Red Sox. In the most recent match, the Yankees came from behind and trounced the ' Red Sox 24-14 once again. The Yankees were led by Paul Wheeler who was 3 for 3 which included a home run. The Red Sox were led by R. Macaulay; R. Welch, E. Curries and J. Amsing, each with two hits. Rescheduling of rained -out games will pit the Twins against the Red Sox at 9 a.m. Saturday. The . Cards face the Expos at 6:30 p.m. Monday and the Mets take on the Expos on Wednesday, again at 6:30 p.m. The Clinton Ponies (Pee Wee All -Stars) chalked up their first win of the season with a 24-2 victory over Seaforth. The Ponies scored 16 runs in the first inning and never looked back. They were led by the pitcher, D. MacDonald, who struck out Six and drove in four runs. S. Cook hit two doubles and a single', while G. Butler, B. Welch and D. MacDonald had two hits each. In the Kinettes' house softball league, the Canaries beat the Robins 27-24 on May 28. Home runs were scored by Joyce Neilans, Carol Colquhoun, Gail Wagar and Geraldine Strong. On May 28, the Bluebirds topped the Wrens 27-19. Home runs were credited to Dabby Colquhoun, Darlene Webb, Cindy, Colquhoun (2), Holly Deline and Peggy Switzer. On June 4, the Canaries clobbered the Wrens 51-27. Runs were credited td Carol Colquhoun, Nickie McPherson, Barb Butler, Nancy Neal and Debbie Welch. Last Thursday, the Bluebirds tallied 27 runs to the Robins' 18. Runs were batted by Geraldine Strong and Peggy Schoenhals (2). Standings this week show the Bluebirds first with 10, the Canaries next with 5, the Robins in third place with 4 and the Wrens at the bottom with only 1. Intermediates debut with win Clinton made an impressive return to the Huron -Perth Baseball Association last week when the Intermediate team posted a 13-6 win over Hensall in a home opener. The club is made up of last year's juvenile players and several players from the now -defunct Clinton Softball Team. Ed Daer, noted for his softball pitching, had a few problems in the first inning — he walked the first batter and then gave up a hit to T., Dalrymple, who scored Hensall's first two runs. Clinton loaded the bases in the first inning on hits by Robert "Doc" Miller, Daer and a walk to Don Bartliff, but McNaughton forced Bob Livermore into a double play to retire the side. Daer faced only three men each inning from the second to the fifth, striking out seven batters. Sharon Potter and Cheryl Doak each won two intermediate girls contests end Debbie Torrance won in the long jump. Four of five junior girls events were won by Teresa Steegstra, with Joyce Mcllwain coming in first in the 50 -yd. race. Peter Wise, with three firsts, and Karl Brall, with two, shared honors in the junior boys competition. Winners in open events included: Shotput, David Patterson and Brenda Gadke; 880 yard race, Eddie Steegstra and 440 yards, Linda Wise. Victorious senior boys relay runners were Gerry Lobb, Clay Stirling, Eddie Steegstra and Jim Ginn. Senior girls winners were Rosanne Middleton, Cathy Steepe, Bonnie Westbrook and Linda Wise. In the intermediate and junior boys relay, winners were Dave Patterson, Ron Rueger, John Schilbe and Jami Thompson. Gids who won in that event were Jane Harris, Cheryl Doak, Debra Moore and Sandra Freeman. belted out by Moir for Hensall. Clinton's big rally came in the second inning when playing coach Laurie Colquhoun Jr. and team captain Little Joe belted two -run homers to lead the way to a seven -run total. Brad Dutot; Hann Leppington, Ed Daer and Rick Fremlin hit singles in the second. Colquhoun scored Clinton's first run in the third with a leadoff triple and scored on a wild throw by the right fielder. • The fourth inning saw Clinton hitting again and tallying three runs to take the lead 11.2. Daer and Bartliff scored in the fifth on Livermore's third hit of the game for Clinton's final runs. - A walk, hit batter on two 4 consecutive Clinton errors gave Hensall four runs in the sixth. Moir slammed Hensall's third hit of the game, a long double, before Daer retired the side.
