CSB Clinton Brownies
hold award ceremonies

Five hard-working Brownies
received their Golden Hand, at
ceremonies last week. The five
members of the 2nd CFB Pack,
were Patty Fisher, Julie Ann
Dansord, Cathy Aiken, Debbie
Braid and Mary Ellen Sauder.
Also honoured were Anna
Beale and Donna Salter who
were presented with their
Golden Ladder.
The writers badge was
awarded to Kathy Smith. The
evening also featured the
enrollment of three happy little
Brownies — Josee Parent,
Charlene McNee and April
Salter.

arrives Sunday
Bishop Spence, the ordinary

chaplain's retreat and seminar
takes place June 11-17. Father

Fete bride at shower
A surprise bridal shower was
held May 27 for Miss Janice
Kinch of 103 Walker St.,
Clinton. The - hostess, Miss
Shirley Ann Dukes, ushered
Janice to her chair of honour
beneath pink and white paper
bells. The gifts ranged from
dishes and table linen to kitchen
utensils. A special gift of 'a
wedding book was presented
last. Later the 20 girls passed up
the usual shower games in favour
of a "gab" session.
Janice is engaged to marry
Robert Wiseman, formerly of
•CFB, Clinton.
Six accidents occur locally
Town and provincial police
report a total of six auto
accidents since May 25.

2, Clinton, collided at Orange
and Dunlop Streets at 8:45 p.m.
last Sunday. Damage totalled
about $175 and charges are
pending.
A car driven by David M.
Riley of Kitchener pulled out of
a parking lot opposite the
Clinton Hotel and into the path
of a northbound auto driven by
Robert A. Farrish of London at
5:45 p.m. Friday. Charges are to
be laid in that mishap also.
In an accident Saturday, on
County Road 12 north of
Seaforth, cars driven by Brian E.
Melady, RR 2, Seaforth, and
Albert Boven, RR 1, Seaforth,
sustained a total of about
$1,100 damage and a passenger
in one of the cars, Gary
Nicholson of RR 2, Seaforth,
was injured.
On Friday, May 30, on
Highway 21 south of Goderich,
Paul Edward Eedy of RR 1,
Dungannon, was involved in a
single -car accident resulting in
$350 damage to the vehicle he
was driving.
• On Tuesday, May 27, on West
Wawanosh Township's 22nd,
sideroad, south of the 6th
concession, Dennis Brian Hallam
of RR 3, Auburn, was involved
in a single -car accident resulting
in $150 damage to the vehicle he
was driving.
On Sunday, May 25, on
County Road 1, north of
County Road 31, John J. Turner
of 201 Mary St., Clinton, was
involved in a single -car accident
resulting in $200 damage to his
auto.

Hospital auxiliary makes war for school board
Members of the Women's
Auxiliary to Clinton Public
Hospital this week expressed .a
wish that the hospital board
consider Storing furniture from
the nurses residence before the
Huron County Board of
Education occupies space it has
rented for its head office..
The auxiliary's June meeting,
which took the form of a coffee
party in the nurses' residence
Monday, was chaired by Mrs..
Brock Olde in the absence of the,
president, Mrs. R. U. MacLean,
and was attended by 21
members.
The next meeting will be on
Sept. 2 when the auxiliary, as a
result of the residence being
leased, will start holding all its
meetings in the hospital board
room.
The school board has a
two-year lease for most of the
building, but will not displace
either the Huron County Health
Unit or the office of
Dr.L.P.Walden, a surgeon,
In suggesting that the
furniture in the residence be
stored, the women noted that
the auxiliary helped furnish the
building when it opened in
1955. Silver and dishes owned
by the auxiliary are to be stored
in a convenient place by a
committee whose members
include Mrs. O.' E. Warner, Mrs.
E. W. Ryan and Mrs. Beecher
Menzies.
Mrs. Ryan, who convened this
year's auxiliary "vanishing
parties," assisted by Mrs.

of the bursary committee was

and CIF Women's Auxiliary
were named to man the hospital
cart in June and July,
respectively and appreciation
was extended to the sewing
committee convenor, Mrs.
Peterson, for the drapes she
made for the hospital nursery.
