Sanctuary Sunday morning were
in memory of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Fee, Rev. Harold R.
Currie delivered a special Easter
message, special music by the
choir under direction of Mrs.
John Turkheim.
WED 25 YEARS
A surprise party was held last
Saturday in honor of the 25th
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. The
party was held at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Scrabuik. Mr.
Scrabuik is a brother of Mrs.
Schwalm. Seventeen were
present. The happy couple
received many beautiful gifts
from friends and relations.
A lovely card and gift was
received from Mrs. Schwalm's
mother in Port Arthur.

PROPERTY SOLD
The auction sale of property
and household effects of the late
Mr. Emmerson Smith was held
last Saturday and was a very
successful one, with good prices
realized.
The home on Queen Street
was sold to Lewis Clark, RR 2,
Kippen and the property on
Brock Street was sold to Mr.
Oliver Jaques. Mr. Alvin Walper
was the auctioneer.
CURLERS MEET
The annual meeting of
Hensall Curling Club was held
March 31 following a very
successful year. Robert Bell, RR
1, Hensall, was named president
and Eric Luther secretary=
treasurer.

Hensall Rebekahs last week
held a special meeting arranged
in place of regular ' one on
account of members being
invited to Brussels Lodge to
attend a banquet honouring the
Rebekah assembly president,
Mrs. Marion Wilkie of Orillia.
The meeting was held with
Noble Grand Mrs•. Earl Campbell
presiding. The charter was
draped in memory of Miss Violet
Pearce, assembly secretary, of
Grand Lodge.
Mrs, R. A. Orr reported visits
made to resident of Queensway
Nursing Home in March, with 21
residents receiving an Easter gift.

Mary Agnes Sloman of 18
Walker Street, Clinton, ,a local
resident for nearly 70 years, died
last Thursday ;at the Clinton
Public Hospital, She was .85
Years old and had been ill
intermittently over the last 10
years,

A daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs, Henry Bliss, she was
born January 28, 1884, in
Pembroke, Ontario, and later
lived in London before moving
to Hullett Township where she
Vent 20 years,
A resident of Clinton for the
Iast 47 years, she worked 40
years as a laundress at the
hospital here. She was a member
of St. Paul's Anglican Church
and a, life member of the
Women's Auxiliary of Clinton
Branch 14Q, Royal Canadian
Legion.
She was also a past mistress
of Clinton Loyal Orange
Benevolent Association, Huron
Lodge, 377 and past noble grand
of Huronic Rebekah Lodge.
She was married December
25, 1940, to Henry Sloman of
Clinton. Other survivors include
a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Edna)
Wheeler of Clinton; a brother,
Sidney Bliss of Vancouver, B.C.
and a sister, Mrs. Lorne (Edith)
Heathery of London, Ontario.
The three organizations held
services at Ball Funeral Home in
Clinton last weekend. Funeral
services were held Monday
afternoon with the• Rev. J. S.
Sharples of St. Paul's Church
officiating.
Pallbearers were Frank
Fal toner, Mervin Falconer,
William Inkley, Joseph Hart,
Thomas Deeves and Brock Olde.

Johanna Maude Torrance, a
native of Varna and long-time
resident of Clinton, died March
24 in Clinton Public Hospital.

Andrews Presbyterian Church,.
Though born in Varna, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Torrance, she spent most of her
life in Clinton.
A brother, John, died in
January 1968. Survivors include
a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at
Ball Funeral Home, Clinton, on
March 29 with the Rev. A. J.
Mowatt of Wesley -Willis Church
officiating.
Pallbearers were John
Torrance and Jim Torrance of
Toronto, Mr. Job of Sudbury,
George German. Wilfred Jervis
and William Hearn.
