injuries sustained in a fall on
Mary Street near King Street on
January 4.
Police Chief Lloyd. Westlake
Said Mrs. Okabashi fell while
crossing the street in the late
afternoon. She broke her
kneecap h1 two spots, the chief
said, and was takento the
hospital in the police cruiser.
Two men pay
driving fines
Two motorists have been
fined in Goderich on careless
driving charges stemming from
accidents in Clinton last
November.
Harold A. Johnson of RR 5,
Clinton, paid $25 and costs
when he was convicted after trial
January 6. Police charged him as
the result of an accident
November 1 in which his vehicle
collided with one operated by
Phyllis Chase, RR 5, Clinton.
Thomas E. O'Neill of
Goderich pleaded guilty and
paid $25 and costs, according to
town police who said his car was
involved in a November 28
collision in which Mrs. Ann
Noonan, 176 Huron St., Clinton,
sustained minor neck injury.
Local man goes
to conference
Bob Mann of Clinton will
represent the Clinton unit of the
Canadian Cancer Society in
Toronto this weekend at the
Ontario Division's Campaign
Training Seminar to be held at
the Westbury Hotel.
The society's campaign for
funds is conducted across the
nation during the month of
April, for the support of cancer
research, education and service
to patients. Ontario's 1969
objective is $3,200,000.
The two-day conference will
include workshop sessions to
instruct the chairmen in research
development, educational
programmes, publicity
programmes and methods of
soliciting the desperately needed
sums of money for patient
servicesmd cancer research. 1, •

given a week from Saturday
night in Holmesville, .by Mr.
Laing, of Acton, This concert
will be well worth hearing.
Mr, John Tippet has
purchased part of the old hotel
which stands on Main street near
the Queen's hotel, in Bayfield.
He intends using it as a kitchen
when he builds in the spring.
Gilroy and Wiseman advertise
all wool dress goods, regularly

gingham and flannelette at 5c.
Mr, John Barr has bought Mr.

Miss Isabel Draper returned
to Brantford to resume her
teaching duties on Monday of
this week, the holidays having
been extended on account of
illness amongst the students and
staff.
Mrs. W. Pickard and Miss
Rutnball had a kitchen shower
for their niece, Miss Jean Ford,
on Saturday evening. A pleasant
time was spent. On Monday
evening Mrs, H. B. Manning and
Miss Olive Schoenhals gave the
young bride-to-be a jam and
pickle shower.
Messrs. Watts, Cudmore and
Scribbins received just recently
from the Ontario Bookkeepers'
Association a handsome silver
medal, awarded for ".Colonial
Honey at the 1928 British Dairy
Show, London, England," the
exhibit sent from the Clinton.

Winters, and Henry Sloman, all
members of Canadian Army
Overseas.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Powell
received word from their son,
Pte. Bill Powell, R.C.A.M.C., of
his safe arrival in Italy. He said
he was fine and had met Jack
Sprung of Hullett.
Mr. and Mrs, W. L. Ferguson,,
Bayfield, left on Monday to visit
their son, Charles B. Ferguson
and family in Sudbury.

Men of the Goderich
detachment Ontario Provincial
Police worked a total of 600
duty hours during the week
ending January 11. They
patrolled a total of 4,998 miles
of highway and other roads in
the area.
One case of break and enter
was investigated and one case
involving another incident.
There were 15 traffic accidents
involving property damage in 13
cases. 'Two people were injured.
'Charges ,_Were ' lain against
seven persons - six against the
highway traffic act and one
against the criminal code of
Canada. There were 13 warnings
issued and 13 requests for
assistance were answered.
In Provincial Court, Criminal
Division, Goderich, 10 persons
were convicted of Highway
Traffic Act offences and two
cases were adjourned.

On Monday, January 6, on
County Road 27, at Junction of
County Road 20, Walter James
Arnold, RR 2, Lucknow, and
Arthur Gilmore, Lucknow, were
involved in a bus -truck accident
resulting in an approximate total
damage of $1,100 to the
vehicles.
On Tuesday, January 7, on
County Road 18, at Junction of
Concession 6, Goderich
Township, Albert Boven, RR 1,
Seaforth, and Barbara Picot, RR
2, Bayfield, were involved in a
two truck accident resulting in
an approximate total damage of
$3,000 to the vehicles. Barbara
Picto received injuries.
On Wednesday, January 8, on
County Road 12, north of
Junction of County Road 3,
there was a five vehicle accident
involving Wayne Douglas Scott,
