The many muddy patches surrounding Clinton grandstand are
slowly turning tolush green grass, thanks to the work of volunteer,s
out Saturday and Monday, About 15 men helped plant sod Saturday
and another dozen students continued the project Monday. Once
the sod, donated by Harold Lobb, is planted a paint-in for the

The turkey and ham smor-
gasbord held at St. Pauls Angli-
can Church Saturday afternoon
was a great success. A record
crowd, the largest in years,
enjoyed a delicious supber, con-
vened by Mrs. Barrie Jackson
and Mrs. F. Forrest, who with
the ladies of the church are to
be congratulated on the sue-,
cess of this project. Proceeds
were most gratifying.

Hensall Kinette Club was
delighted with the success of,
its Annual Spring Rummage
Sale last Saturday held at the
arena with many patronizing
the sale.
Cartons of used clothing not
sold were given to the U.C.W.
to be included 'in their bale
being packed this week.
On Monday , evening pupils
of the Henna! Public School
presented their Annual Spring
Concert with approximately
three hundred people in atten-
dance.
James Sangster, Chairman
of the Hay Township School Area
Board, acted as the Chairman.
The music was under the dir-
ection of LawrenceWein, music
supervisor of the school. A
massed choir of all the pupils
opened the concert and this was
followed with each grade pre.
senting its own portion of the
program. The audience seemed
to be very pleased with the
efforts of the younger pupils of
the school and were impressed
with the singing of the glee club
made up of Grade 7 and 8
pupils.
The concert closed with num-
bers by the massed choir and
following this the parents could
visit the classrooms and meet
the teachers.
During the evening proceeds
of $70 were realized for the
' Easter Seals Campaign.

The new Brownies were en-
rolled by Brown Owl, Mrs.
Robert Cook, in a ceremony
arranged by Snowy Owl, Mrs.
Barrie Jackson. ,
Three Brownies, Linda
Elder, Terri Dick and Nancy
McCurdy were presented with
their golden bars.
Tawny Owl, Mrs. Rodger
Veinier, was in charge of the
program, and the mothers pre-
sent joined in with the Brownie
games. The afternoon concluded
with a short play and BroWnie
songs.

cently graduated as an honour
student from a radar technician
navigational aids course at the
Radar and Communications
School, Canadian Forces Base,
Clinton.
Peter attended Viscount
Bennett High School, Calgary
where he obtained his Grade
11. Prior to his enlistment in
the RCAF on 13 March, 1967,
Peter was employed as, federal
fisheries officer at Port Al-
berni, British Columbia. Pre-
vious to this he served two
years with the 1st Battalion
PPCLI of the Canadian Army.

Church Women was held last

religious education teach-in
which they attended at C.F.B.

Mrs. Charles Reid conducted
the business session. There
were 23 calls made to sick
and shut-ins during the past
month. Three former members
were present from Clinton.,
A plant sale was held and.

Rachael Johnston. The proceeds
amounted to $19. The meeting

The pair of Beavers which
came up the Bayfield river
last fall have already built a
new dam this spring and are
exploring new sites, having cut
some poplar trees a half mile
,up stream. It is hoped they
are not frightened by the many
visitors who try to see them.
