The Hoopers were also tops in turnips. One Of Top Exhibitors Miss Dorothy Davis, of Exeter, was one of the top exhibitors in handicraft and hobby work at London Fair this week. Miss Davis won first prizes for crocheted rug, ankle socks and pillow slips with crochet trim. She captured second prizes for girl’s sweater, fancy knit socks, and sheet and pillow slips, hand trim. For her speci­ mens of filet crochet fine, cross stitch, crochet tablecloth, centre piece, and knitted mittens, she was awarded third prizes. Institute Winners Junior Institute members from this district captured individual at the fair Tuesday, group honors went to Sparling. Last winter's night school stimulated interest in this field and many entries are expected. Prizes are awarded in these classes for oil paintings, water colors and crafts, including wood carving, leather craft, amateur photography and shell work. Theme of the fair board this year is more practical competi­ tion. Evidence of this is appar­ ent in almost all of the sections of the fair. The prizes have been revised to emphasize local pro­ duce and to encourage more ex­ hibitors. The home department, under the supervision of Mrs. R. W. Kestle and Mrs. 0. Brintnell, has been adjusted to promote more competition. The ladies’, wear, representatives are: Robert Bowman, of ... In making the nominations, Mr. Doneliy paid tribute to re­ tiring secretary Clark Fisher, of Exeter, who, he said, was one of the most faithful members of the party.
