Talk On Wonder Drugs

The regular monthly meeting
of the Hensall Women’s Insti
tute was held in the Legion Hall
Wednesday, 13 with president,
Miss Phyllis Case in the chair.

W, Horton were hostesses. The
president outlined a demonstra
tion scheduled to he held at the
March meeting, W e d n e s d a y,
March 12. The group favoured
sending a shower of get well
cards to several members. Due
to the absence of Mrs. George
Hess, card secretary, Mrs. F.
Evans kindly volunteered to act
in this capacity.

Luker, read correspondence from
Mrs. Gaiser about the conference,
“We Call It Human Nature” by
Miss McBride, to be held in the
Council Chambers, Hensall, on
March 13, from 1:30 to 4 o’clock.

August Gregus, Dies
Passing away suddenly at his
home on Friday, February 15,
August Gregus died in his sixty-
second year. He had resided on
his present farm in Usborne
Township for the past 22 years
and had made many friends in
the Exeter
time.
His wife

Chatham, Frank and August at
home, and one daughter, Mrs.
William Woodall (Shirley) of
Windsor. There are also three
grandchildren.
Mr. Gregus was a member of
St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Re
quiem High Mass was sung at
Mt. Carmel by Father Fogarty
with burial in Mt.
tery.

The lovely bride wore a dress
of taupe faille, a cloud white hat
and gloves. Her purse and shoes
were matching dark brown and
she wore a corsage of white car
nations.
Miss Elaine Upshall was her
sister’s attendant. She wore a
dress of mint green taffeta with
beige accessories and a corsage
of pink carnations. Mr. Jack Ad
kins, brother of the groom was
best man.
At the reception which follow
ed at the Dominion Hotel, Zu
rich, the bride’s mother greeted
guests wearing a brick tile crepe
dress with dark brown accessor
ies and a corsage of yellow
The groom’s mother wore
silk with black accessories

After the reception the cou
ple left on a wedding trip to

Zurich town hall.
It was decided to send a dona
tion of $10 for the CNIB build
ing fund.
Mrs. Elmore Klopp presided
for the program and introduced
Merle Tingley, London Free
Press cartoonist, who outlined
cartoon ideas and presented
numerous drawings which were
well received by the large group
present.
A hymn was sung in memory
of King George VI, and Mrs. B.
Mack gave a dedication. Mrs.
Iilopp gave a poem. Sheila Wil-
lert and Ronald Howald render
ed vocal solos. Donna Oeseh,
Mary Jane Howald and Mrs. M.
Oeseh gave piano instrumentals.

ity memorial service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church, Friday at
11 a.m.
Members of the Hensall branch
of the Canadian Legion, Legion
Auxiliary, Girl Guides and the
Brownies attended in a body.
Chaplain, Rev. W. J. Rogers re
ceived the flags from the stand
ard bearers at the beginning of
the service. Rev. John B. Fox,

the service and the scripture les

Church.
Rev. C. L. Langford
Paul’s Anglican Church,

his remarks traced the career of
the late King through the various
changes of the times. In closing
he stated Jhat the best way in
which we could remember the
late King, and to encourage the
new queen, was by following in
the great example left behind.
A united choir was under dir
ection of J. L. Nicol who at the
conclusion of the service played
the “Dead March in Saul”.

and Roy Smale, standard bearers
for the Legion, and Mrs. H. W.
Horton, standard bearer for the
Legion Auxiliary. The church

Health. At the conclusion of the
talk several films were shown. A

lowed by Mrs. J. C. Goddard.

Dies Suddenly
Private funeral services for
Miss Mary A. Wood, who died
suddenly at her home, at Hensall,
Saturday in her seventy-seventh
year, following a stroke, were
held from her late residence,
Hensall, Monday, February 18,
at 2 p.m. Rev. John B. Fox con
ducted the funeral and inter
ment was in Hensall Union ceme
tery.
Miss Wood was born in Us
borne Township and took up re
sidence in Hensall where she
lived with her sister, Miss Eliza,
who survives her, together with
one brother, Frank Wood, of
Vancouver, B.C. She was a mem
ber of Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall.
