Lucan District News Hardys Compete In Pigeon Flight The Forest City .Racing Pigeon Club held its annual 300-mile young bird flight last Saturday from Perth, Ont. This is the longest flight of the year, year the Kitchener Club This also competed. In all, 147 birds from 21 lofts entered. Because of head winds and lashing’ rains, only three birds homed the same day and these were from Kitchener which is 50 miles closer to Perth. Many of the boys did not clock at all, so adverse were the weather conditions. In the re­ sults reported there are three Lucan names—>C. Hardy, 002 yards per minute; N- Hardy, 585; and J. Hardy, 571. Con­ gratulations to the Hardys. Teenage Organization It is hoped every teenager from 13 to 19 will be present at the public school on Friday October 5, at S o’clock to re­ organize and elect officers for the coming season. The many friends ’of Mrs. Strasser are glad to see her back in the store. She made a won­ derful recovery after such a severe illness. Week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. T. S. They went by way of Manitou- Im and Thessalon stopping off for the cattle sales, then continu­ ing to Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta Mr. Lloyd Lynn and son Ger­ ald, Aljoe Culbert and Clarence Lewis attended the stocker and feeder sales in the north last week. Mr. Lynn and Mr. Culbert each bought* a load of cattle at the Thessalon sale and Mr. Lewis bought a load at Little Current. Mr. F. Morgenroth, Mr. Joe Benn, Mr. Eddie Hawkshaw and Mr. Alex Young attended the “Share the Wealth” Legion Bin- go at Parkhill on Saturday night and Mr. Young was the lucky winner. Congratulations. Mr. Bob McLean and his bro­ ther left for Oshawa. From there Bob will go to North Bay to visit his daughter, Mrs. M. Craigie. Each of these schools entered the parade. Southgate school, (teacher Mr. Archie Blandford), won third >place and were called back be­ fore the grandstand to demon­ strate their marching. Many of the older boys from this area exhibited potatoes in the Potato Club display. Richard Gledhill received first prize. Members of the Swine Club showed hogs and the Calf Club exhibited their calves.
