NEW TYPE SILO MAY IMPROVE FARMING METHODS — On farm owned by naval
veteran Alvin C. Beggs, of Sunderland, Ont., forty volunteer workers from the Veterans’
Land Act department built a new-type trench silo which, if proven successful following a
thorough practical test on June 15, will become standard equipment for the 10,000 or so
veterans under V.L.A. And if the whole idea catches' on the rural landscape of Ontario
will see a big change, with gradual disappearance of the round tower-like silo, that feat
ures many farms today, into ground. The “digging bee” was the result of a decision by
officials to try out this new-type trench silo following a controversy which had risen as
to pros and cons of a silo which is built under ground and not overhead. —C.P.C.understanding

MUNN—In loving memory of
our darling son, Bryan Alex
ander, who was accidently
killed one year ago, August 3,
1950.
It’s lonesome at home without
you, Bryan,
And sad the weary way—
For life is not the same for us
Since you were called away.
There’s many a lonely heartache,
Often a "silent tear,
But always a beautiful
Of a son we loved so
If we had all the world
We’d give it, yes, and
To hear your voice and see your
smile
And greet you at the door.
So you who have a son
Cherish him with care;
For you’ll never know the heart
ache
Till you see the vacant chair.
—Sadly missed but ever remem
bered by
MUNN—In
our dear*
Bryan Alexander, who passed
away suddenly one year ago,
August 3, 1950.
When last we saw his smiling
face,
He looked so bright and well
We little thought he had to part
Without a last farewell.
—Sadly missed but always re
membered by Grandma and
Grandpa Borland and family.

Out in the garden of life there
- grew
A flower so lovely and fair,
blossom so tiny and precious
and sweet
That the Master who planted
it there
Gathered it lovingly into
arms,
And now in the light of His
love—
Sheltered and blessed, by His pres
ence, it grows
In His beautiful garden above.
