The first meeting of the new
ly organized Young Adults Club
of Caven Presbyterian Church
was held on Monday evening.
Miss Alice Pfaff, retiring presi
dent of the former Young Peo
ple’s Society was in the chair.
The scripture reading was

Smile”, which were greatly en
joyed by all.
The speaker of the evening
was Mr. Thomas Pryde, who
complimented the young people
for their efforts on behalf of the
church and encouraged them in
this new venture as a young
adults’ group. He went on to
speak, then, of some of the im
pressions he had received from
the recent trip he had taken
with members of the Legislature
through Northern Ontario, de
scribing some of the great de
velopments going on in the lum
bering and mining industries,
and ’ pointing out how several
large towns have sprung up in
recent years with all the con
veniences of modern civilization
except adequate road communi
cation with the outside world.
He appealed for a„ better under
standing on the part of the peo
ple of Southern Ontario for the
people of Northern Ontario and
their problems in order that we
might be more tolerant when
the government diverts certain
expenditures from Southern
tario to the north that we
we need.
