Your Portrait Appointments for dhristmas Sittings Should Be Arranged Immediately Dashwood Couple Feted On Anniversary On Monday evening the Luthe­ ran Ladies Aid held a social, eve­ ning in the church basement in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fassold who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary this week. The basement was decorated for the occason with can dleb r a, ribbons and gold flowers centred with a beautiful decorated wedding cake. The couple were ushered in to the strains of Lohengrin’s Bridal Chorus, after which the evening was spent in playing Bingo. A dainty lunch was then served. The bride of fifty years then made a cut in the four-tiered wedding cake while everybody joined in singing “When You And I Were Young Clara.” and ”Put On Your Old Gray Bonnet”. They were then presented, on behalf of the Ladies Aid, with a beautiful crystal cake plate trim­ med with 21 karet gold, by Mrs, Lome Genttner. The address was read by Mrs. M. Merner. Larry Snider Motors Save good, Usborne Council Council met. on Monday -after­ noon, October 10, 19 49, on regu­ lar monthly session with Reeve Hugh Berry presiding and Coun­ cillors Wellington Brock, James Simpson, Verne Pincombe, and Harold Jeffrey in attendance , Minutes of the last regular meeting held on September 12 were confirmed as printed on motion of .Councillors Pincombe and Jeffrey. A petition for drainage work from Wm. Stephens and others was accepted by Council on motion of ’Wellington Brock and James Simpson and directed that the Township Engineer be asked to make a survey and bring in a report on the area. 'Messrs. Elmer Bell and Chas. McNaughton, representing the Exeter Hospital -Committee inter­ viewed the Council. They out­ lined the -plans of the Committee and the progress that had been made and requested that the Council appoint a committee of four or 'five members represent­ ing the area to directing in the promised who would act in that capacity. The following correspondence was tabled and dealt with as follows: Gladman and Cochrane confirming advice regarding pro­ rating of drainage assessments; Action in the matter taken at the September meeting, letter filed; Department of Municipal Affairs, approval of by-law ex­ tending .the time for the return of the assessment roll for sixty days. Filed; County Humane Society, re appointment -of a local representative in the Township, matter 'held over until further information could be secured from the secretary; County Clerk of the 'Peace, regarding Jurors Lists, the Reeve, W. J. Routly, and the Clerk to act Selectors and meet at date; N. W. Miller re School and County Association dinner in on October Sf'arrangements made for representatives to attend; Dumfries Construction Co., r.e the unpaid balance on their con­ tract price on the Stewart drain, Council directed that balance be held until all legitimate fence accounts and the cost of improv­ ing the headwall be met before final settlement was made; Dept, of Highways, confirmation of ap­ plication for interim subsidy, The Road Superintendent re­ ported that C. Smith was making good 'progress with the gravel­ ling contract; that C. Looby Construction had virtually com­ pleted their bridge contract. Council approved of an advance of $300)0 to C. Looby Construct­ ion on their contract price, also further vouchers to .the amount of $2269,84 as read. A grant of <$25 was made to the South Huron Plowmen’s As­ sociation in support of their an­ nual plowing match was made on motion of Councillors Pin­ combe and Simpson. Mackey-Neil A quiet dongle ring ceremony was performed in the Brinsley United Church before an alter banked with autumn flowers, when Rev, Harold Currie united in marriage, Gladys Evelyn, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Neil, of Ailsa Craig, and John -Murray Mackey, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Mackey, of Parkhill. The bride wore a fitted gown of white satin with nylon yoke iand pointed sleeves. A halo type bridal crown of the same mater­ ial as her gown, held a full length veil of net and she car­ ried a bouquet of fem and red roses tied with white ribbon. Miss Wilma Moore, of London, was bridesmaid and wore a floor­ length gown of pink taffeta. Her full skirt was gathered to a tight fitted bodice. She also wore matching mitts and plumes and carried a nosegay of asters and pink roses with matching ribbon. Wiliam Furtney, cousin of the groom, was best man. A reception was- held at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. Neil wore -a brown crepe dress with a. satin yoke and a corsage of yellow asters and pink rose­ buds, Mrs. Mackey chose a wine crepe dress trimmed with satin and a corsage of white asters and pink roses.
