The Citizen, 2012-12-20, Page 16PAGE 16. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2012.Maitland River students play Santa’s decorator Mrs. Evers’ Grade 1 class at Maitland River Elementary School – Turnberry Campus, had some unique ideas when it came to answering the question, “What does Santa Claus’ house look like?” “I think it looks cold. I know he has elves there to help him and Mrs. Claus helps him by doing chores in the igloo. His house is an igloo that looks like a workshop with a roof on it. It looks like penguins live there and he has a sleigh and the reindeer and they stay in the penthouse.” Austin M. from the Brussels area. “Santa’s house is a red one with big green spots. It’s a small house with a big workshop and he also has a post office in the house too for all the letters he receives.” Maddy B. from the Brussels area. “It looks like a regular house except for the roof. The roof is big and red with green squares that show him where to land his sleigh after he gives out all the toys.” Alayna B. from Wingham. “Santa’s house looks like his white beard with red and green stripes through it and a big chimney. The workshop looks like a regular workshop but it’s smaller because it has dwarves inside it, not elves. The dwarves live underground, so Santa’s house doesn’t have to be very big to keep them in it.” Brett B. from Wingham “I think Santa’s house looks like a red and green house with lots of snow on it and lots of decorations around it. It’s a big house because the workshop is there and all the elves and Mrs. Claus and the reindeers and the sleigh and Frosty and the Little Drummer Boy all have to live there.” Garrett C. from the Belgrave area. “Santa’s house is a log house, but it’s a big one, a lot bigger than the houses around here. He has a lot of toys there that the elves make and his workshop is another log house beside his log house. Nicholas C. from outside of Wingham. “Santa’s house is a big red house because he have to fit in all the elves that work in his workshop. He also has to keep all the reindeer there and Mrs. Claus, Mrs. Claus needs a place to keep his suit bright and clean because he only has one.” Telly C. from Bluevale “I think Santa’s house looks red with swirls on the front. I saw a show and that’s what it looked like. It was a big house because he is a very big man.” Dylan D. from Wingham “Santa’s house is a big one but it doesn’t have any windows so that people can’t see what they are getting for Christmas. It has a kitchen and bedrooms and all that stuff and a workshop with long benches in it for the Elves to sit on and work at.” Mary H. from outside of Wingham. “Santa’s house is full of candy, but it’s not made of candy, but there are candy canes for the laneway so you can find it in the North Pole whenthere is a lot of snow. It’s a big house because Santa couldn’t fit in it otherwise.” Gabby J. from the Wingham area. “I think Santa’s house is a normal house and just made of wood. It’s red and green and would be very big because Santa needs a big house to fit in.” Landreanna L. from Wingham. “I think Santa’s house is a big one because they have to make and keep a lot of presents and live in the house too. The elves have to live there I mean. They’re small but there are so many of them that it takes a lot of space.” Kurtis M. from Belgrave. “I think Santa’s house is made of red bricks, has a blue chimney and a sign that says welcome to Santa’s workshop. He has a really big Christmas tree, like huge, and he has a bucket of winter hats and a Christmas tree blanket and he has pet polar bears around that protect the house and make sure no bad kids steal presents. Morgan N-B. from Wingham. “I think that there are candy canes all over Santa’s house on it and thatthere are candies all around it on the ground with red and white stripes, and there are stars on it and all sorts of pictures on it of elves and their families and Mrs. Claus. Melina P. from between Wroxeter and Bluevale. “Santa’s house looks like a Skylander’s house, so I think he would like the Skylander that has fur around his neck since their houses are the same.” Keaton R. from Wingham. “Santa’s house looks like the North Pole, it looks like the red and white pole up there. He lives in the red and white pole, but it’s tall and wide so people can fit in it and live in it.” Owen S. from outside of Wingham. “Santa’s house is shaped like Rudolph with a great big glowing red light above his workshop so he can see it and so his sleigh can find his house in the dark.” Haven S. from Wingham. Absent from the class were Johnathan A., Bradley C. and Philip H. the day the students answered the question. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MANY THANKS FOR YOUR KIND PATRONAGE.
