Belgrave Variety serving as Christmas bureau drop-offChristmas is a time of the year thatwe are given many opportunities todonate and support others who maynot have the resources they need to
provide their children and family
with healthy meals, clothing and
gifts. There are many depots and
stores that participate in food and toy
drives as well accept monetary
donations. This year another has
been added to the list. Belgrave
Variety is making it possible and
convenient for people in thecommunity to donate. They aresupporting the Huron CountyChristmas Bureau this holiday
season. They have made donating
simple and hopefully adorable for
everyone alike. You can donate two
ways, through the toy drive or simply
by donating only $2. The toy drive is
happening from Nov. 15 to Dec. 6.
By bringing in a new toy not only
will you help to bring a smile to a
deserving child on Christmas Daybut also your name will be added toa draw to win either a $25 HomeHardware gift card or a $25 Toys R
Us gift card. The monetary donations
will be accepted until Dec. 24.
On Sunday, Nov. 25, 10:30 to 11
a.m. at Knox United Church, is
“Preparing for Something Big”. Our
anticipation of a future with Jesus is
often led by the count of days, rather
than what happens in worship as it
affects our expectancy of Jesus in arising sense of hope. The UCW general meeting is onThursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. The
guest speaker is Mrs. Lou Cull.
Everyone is welcome. Please join us.
The community congratulates
Katherine J. Procter who received
her Master of Science - Rural
Planning and Development at the

Gowing takes spot on county council hiring committee
Morris-Turnberry’s Paul Gowing
replaced Goderich’s Deb Shewfelt
on the county’s hiring committee.
Shewfelt said he simply didn’t have
the time to commit due to his busy
schedule.
“I’ve just been very, very busy,”
Shewfelt told councillors, adding
that he had already spoke to
Gowing, who was in favour of
taking over the spot.
“I apologize, I just can’t handle
it,” Shewfelt said. “I think it’s best
I’m upfront with that.”

The Trees Beyond Goderich
program was in full swing over the
weekend planting 1,200 new trees in
a Benmiller woodlot over the
weekend.
Ahead of the planting, however,
Rachel White from the Huron
Stewardship Council made a
presentation on the program to
Huron County Council at its Nov. 14
Committee of the Whole meeting.
White explained that a group of
volunteers from all over North
America was in Goderich and
Benmiller for the planting project,
where 15 different tree species
would be planted. On Sunday the
volunteers re-planted 11 acres of
trees.

This past year, we have launched a
new website www.nhfoodshare.ca, a
new e-mail account: nhfoodshare
@gmail.com and Facebook page
www.facebook.com/nhfoodshare.
We are in the process of linking our
website to all the local municipal
websites, so through the local
township as well as directly, anyone
can access our site to find out the
information they need, whether to
volunteer, donate, create a food
drive, etc. In closing, on behalf of
the board of directors of the North
Huron Community Food Share, I
wish you and yours a very Merry
Christmas and a prosperous New
