At the Nov. 5 meeting she said she would be giving the tablet to hergrandson. Ginn said the Galaxys had proven to be “troublesome” but that confusion over the tablets needing to be replaced, but then being purchased by councillors was a “fair comment”. He said that if the tablets were to be sold to someone other than the councillor who has been using it for the past year, there would alsobe added data removal costsassociated. Ginn said the tablets would have included personal data, such as e- mails, that would have to be professionally wiped from the Galaxys before selling them to a third party, which would be another cost incurred by the municipality. “We would have to bring someone in to wipe the memory and that’s anadded cost,” Ginn said.Ginn said that if the Galaxys are purchased by REACH, they could be helpful to students, especially those who come for short courses that only last a few weeks. He said the tablets could be the property of REACH, staying with the school, but being used by the students while they attend classes in Clinton. Any remaining tablets that are notpurchased by councillors, and thenstaff, will be offered to members of the public if an agreement with REACH is not inked. To express interest in one of the Samsung Galaxys for the asking price of $175 (if there are any remaining) call Deputy-Clerk Florence Stalenhoef at the municipal office at 519-482-3997, extension 1224.
