The Citizen, 2012-11-15, Page 3THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2012. PAGE 3. Business problems discussed at Blyth BR&E meetingDuring a meeting among Blyth
Business Improvement Area (BIA)
members, North Huron TownshipCouncil members and Blythresidents, the problems with creatingand maintaining a business in the
face of bureaucratic problems were
discussed.Between the recent addition oflimited parking sign and difficultieslocal businesses have faced with
plumbing and health inspections,
business owners felt that NorthHuron Township should be doingmore to welcome businesses andless to obstruct them.
“I’m a relatively new business in
Blyth, but I’d need more than my
fingers and toes to count problems
that people run into when trying to
open a business,” Les Cook, part
owner of both the Queens Bakery
and East Side Dance Studio said. “It
would be really easy for a new
business owner to develop the
attitude that North Huron doesn’t
want a business to move forward.”
Cook suggested that North Huron
should provide a new business
startup package that would include
information to help people who want
to open a business.
“We should make it really easy for
a new business owner. We need to
give them a list of things they need
to complete and contact information
for someone in the municipality to
deal with these issues,” he said.
Councillor Archie MacGowan
understood where Cook was coming
from, stating that, upon reflection, the council has realized somethingsweren’t done right. One such issueBy Denny ScottThe Citizen

There was no church service at
Blyth United Church on Sunday,
Nov. 11. The congregation joined
the Legion for the Remembrance
Day service.
The Remembrance Day service at
Blyth Memorial Hall was well
attended. The Legion members
marched in and deposited the
colours for the service. Pastor Les
Cook was master of ceremonies.
Donna Govier and Darrell Wood
were in charge of the laying of the
wreaths. Following the Last Post
and the two minutes silence and the
Reveille, Kirby Cook sang, “Oh
Danny Boy”. President Andy
Lubbers thanked everyone for
coming. Hailey Govier read the
poem, “In Flanders Fields”. Pastor
Cook led everyone in prayer. The
offering was received and would be
donated to help our veterans. The
scripture was from Ruth 1: 1-18
read by Rev. Gary Clark. Rev.
Clark’s message to the audience was
that of Remembrance and the wars
our veterans fought to keep us free.
Rev. Clark led everyone in prayer.
Music was by the Blyth United
Church Choir and Kirby Cook
favoured the audience with another
song. The colours were returned and
the singing of “God Save The
Queen” was sung. Pastor Cook read
the benediction and the Legion
marched out and deposited their
poppies by the cross at the front,
followed by the audience. What a
beautiful day for a Remembrance
Day service. Temperatures were in
the teens, not cold and snowy which
has been for many services in the
past.

Live much in Heaven
(Mary Winslow, “Life in Jesus”)
“Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:1-2
Live much in Heaven--and earth will grow less attractive.
Jesus, You are my chief joy, my life, my all. Without You this world would be
wretchedness itself. Keep, oh keep me near Yourself, nearer, nearer still; and allow no
earthly idol to occupy Your place in my heart.
