The flowers at the front of the church were in memory of Don Craig, Lyle Ansley, Jim and Doreen Smith, Doug Small and Tyler Wilson, placed by their families. The Christ Candle was lit by Mason Campbell. Fred Hakkers ran the power point. Rev. Clark drew everyone’s attention to the announcements that had been scrolling on the power point with special mention that the ladies would be making the last of the meat pies on April 25. There are a few tickets left for Women’s Day Out. One of the guest speakers will be Erin Bolger. If you have a copy of Erin’s cookbook she will autograph it for you if you bring it along. The choir began the Easter service with the singing of “Easter Hallelujah” verses one and two. The scripture reading was the Easter story read from Mark 16: 1-8. The choir sang the third verse of the “Easter Hallelujah”. The call to worship was said responsively followed by the prayer of approach and the singing of the first hymn, “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Rev.Clark had a bag of Easter eggs and he asked the children what they thought was in the egg. One answer was chocolate. He opened the egg up and there was a chocolate egg inside. Rev. Clark gave each child an egg and asked them to open it. They were empty. He then asked them how many crosses were in the church. There was one at the front and another covered with palm leaves at the side. He told the children that when Mary and the women went to the tomb where Jesus was buried, they found it Meal to be held atBlyth Legion Branch Happy birthday to Kayden MacDonald who celebrates April 16 and Colin Howson, April 18. Spurgeon “Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling.” 2 Timothy 1:9 Gospel salvation is accompanied by a holy calling. Those whom the Saviour saved upon the cross–are in due time effectually called by the power of the Holy Spirit unto holiness. They leave their sins; they endeavour to be like Christ; they choose holiness, from the compulsion of a new nature and new affection, which lead them to rejoice in holiness–just as naturally as aforetime they delighted in sin. God neither chose them nor called them because they were holy–but He called them that they would be holy. This holiness is evidenced by the graces produced by His workmanship in them. The graces which we see in a believer are as much the work of God–as the atonement itself. Such is the evidence of Gospel salvation--a holy life. Women’s Day Out to feature author Continued on page 16 By Phaedra Scott The Grade 7/8 students will be watching for classes who waste energy. The “Energy Beast”, project, organized by Ms Clark, is a fun contest to reduce our school’s ecological footprint and name one class as the “Energy Beast” of our school. In the Grade 6/7 class, students are writing persuasive letters following the reading of the story “I Wanna Iguana.” The letters will be to their parents to negotiate a rule or convince them into allowing them to get something they really want. Their parents will be responding with letters of their own. They are also working on their dances and Ms. Clark claims that she has nearly had a heart attack a couple of times due to the stunts and tricks the students are attempting in class. By Hunter Dale The Grade 1/2 class is working on Easter activities, and they are also talking about the “well fundraiser” for Africa with Kids Giving Water. We asked Paige in Grade1/2 what she was doing for Easter and she said “watching movies”. We also asked Nick from Grade 1/2 what he was doing, he said “he was going to his Grandma’s to have an Easter egg hunt”. Have a safe and Happy Easter! By Courtney Bachert All students this week were especially excited for the long weekend. Lots of kids are enthused about what they are doing on the long weekend, whether it’s visiting with friends and family or having an Easter egg hunt. Most of the classes are either just getting into new things or finishing up old activities. Mr. Gole’s Grade 2 class is really having fun fingerpainting in art and is excited for the weekend because Auburn 519-526-7262 AUBURN CO-OP Now taking bookings for our lawn sweeper rental!
