The W.M.S. room of the church on Tuesday eve­ ning of last week for their July meeting, The programme was in charge of Mrs. F, Lewis and Mrs. G. F. Penwarden with Mrs. Lewis leading the worship service. “We Look at the W.M.S.”, a program leaflet outlining the whole organ­ ization of the Society from Baby Band to Dominion Board was pre­ sented in a most interesting man­ ner by Mrs. Penwarden and Mrs. Lewis assisted by other members Following the business a very dainty lunch was served by Mrs. G. R. Andrew and Miss Flossie Davey. At the August meeting the W.M.S. will have as their guests the mem­ bers of the Mission’Band, and the Baby Band with tiheir mothers. W.A. Meeting The monthly meeting of the W.A, was held in the basement of 'the church on Thursday, July 4th, with a large attendance of members and visitors present. Mrs. |Andrew was in the chair for the opening exer­ cises, opening with the use of a hymn and the scripture lesson read by 'Mrs. A. Hicks. Mirs. 'Gates gave a very interesting talk on “The Ukranian People in Ethel-bert, Manitoba.” Mks. Andrew 'gave a short reading after which she led in prayer. Mirs. L. Hicks and Mrs. Penwarden favored with a piano duet. A reading, “When Mother had the Ladies’ Aid,” was given 'by Mrs. K. Greb. Mrs..Brown took the chair for the business session. It was pleasing to see the president able to be in attendance. Lunch was served at the close of the meeting by .Mrs. W. Bowden, Mrs. Weir, Mrs. Lammie and Mrs. 'Penwarden. met in the school- SIRS. RICHARD SYLVESTER DIED AT THEDFORD Maud Eleanor Weir,, wife of Richard Sylvester, of Thedford, suf­ fered a heart attack and died with­ in half an hour. Deceased was well known and highly respected in the community, having been a resident there for over 40 years. 'Surviving besides her husband are two daugh­ ters and two sons, Mrs. Howard Mc­ Gregor, Wallaceburg, Mrs. Ravelie, of Grand Bend; William Sylvester and Walter Sylvester, both of London. Interment was in Pinehill HENSALL LAD HAS FOOT BADLY SPRAINED Murney Twitchell, eight-year-old son of Mr. and .Mrs. Orville Twit­ chell, of Hensail, is suffering a badly sprained foot, .the result of an accident. Murney was sitting on the back of a milk truck, with his feet hanging down, when the driv­ er moving the truck, backed too close to the wall of the milk house, jamming the boy’s feet against the wall, BRINSLEY and Mrs. A. Social Evening" & Presentations A social evening was held on Tuesday evening when the members of the Young Ladies’ Class of the United Church met at the home of their teacher, Mrs. Jos. Refreshments were served by the hostess with the girls assisting. , Bride-Elect Honored A pleasant evening on Friday last when Brown and daughters Eva ’Mae entertained young ladies at their home in honor of Miss Helen Bullock, bride-elect of this week. 'Games were enjoyed after which Helen was made the recipient of a miscellaneous shower, the gifts being presented in a large decorated box. After opening the gifts Helen, very fittingly thanked the donors, and refreshments were served by the hostesses, assisted by several young ladies. Tea was pour­ ed by Mrs. Jos, Bullock. W.M.S. and W1A. The W.M.S. on Thursday evening last at the home of Mrs. Thos. Yearley 'with an attendance of 22. Mrs. A. Baker presided ever the W.A. meeting and musical selections ‘by 'Mrs. Garnet Hill and Miss Audrey Yearley were greatly enjoyed as was also a vocal solo by Rev,. A. Trueblood.
