Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Calfas and family, of Sarnia, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schatz. The Evangelical Sunday School Picnic is being held at Grand Bend Wednesday afternoon. Rev. and Mrs. Theo. Luft, of Hanover, and Marie were visitors in town on Monday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Elgin Marner, Joyce Merner returned to Hanover with her grandparents to spend two weeks' holidays. Rev. Higenell, who has accepted a call to the [Lutheran Congregation has arrived and is now busy getting settled in the Lutheran parsonage. We extend a hearty welcome to Rev. and Mrs. Higenell and son to our community. Choir Party On Wednesday evening the choir of Zion Lutheran church held a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Stade, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller, who were re cently married, A large crowd was present, including Rev. and Mrs. Higenell and son, Gerald, new oc cupants of the parsonage. Various games provided entertainment for the first part of the evening. A sing song led by Alvin Walper and a chivari for the bride and groom added to the evening’s enjoyment. Aftei- a lunch of hot-dogs and home made ice-cream a presentation was made to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller, ■by Mrs. Milford Merner, the add ress being read by Mrs. Elgin Mer- ner. Rev. Higenell spohe briefly saying he was very glad to have the opportunity of meeting the choir, since he and his family are very much interested in choir work. He also complimented the choir fine spirit that prevailed them, , Evangelical Ladies’ Aid and The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Aid and W.M.S. was held Thursday evening. Mrs. C. Snell’s group was in charge. The meeting opened with a prelude of music, “Have Thine Own Way, Lord,” played by Mrs. K, McCrae. Call to worship was read by Mrs. C. Snell. A hymn was sung follow ed by prayer by M[rs. M. Haugh. The scripture, Matt. 4, 18-22, was read by Mrs. L. Eagleson. A solo was sung by Mrs. J. M. Tieman. The Study Book was taken by Rev. Burn, The president, Mrs. J. M. Tieman, then presided for the busi ness. There were 35 sick visits, 11 ■bouquets and 11 dainties sent to sick and shut-in friends during the month. A birthday party was held for all members having birthdays in May, June, July and August. Ice cream and cake were served which was much enjoyed. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction. Yates and Mr, Frazer Brown are this week enjoying a fishing trip in Northern Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Wes. Baxter and Miss Agnes Lamport, of Detroit, visited over the American holiday with Mrs, Margaret Lamport and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lamport. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Haist, of Detroit, spent Thursday of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Emmery Falirner. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Finkbeiner, Newell, West V-irginia, are visiting at the home of "Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beaver. Miss Gertrude Beaver, of Detroit, spent the 4th of July at her parent’s home. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson- Schroeder and Jacqueline and Mary Anna Allesandra, of Detroit, Mich., spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Haist. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Haist, of Ferndale, Mich., called on them last Friday. Injured In Accident . Mrs. F. W. Clark last week re ceived word that her sister, Mrs. H. Rapley, of Marietta, Ohio, had been painfully injured in an auto ■accident. Mr. and Mrs. Rapley were driving through one of tl\e main thoroughfares of Marietta when their car was crashed into by an other car, Mrs. Rapley suffered . a broken shoulder besides other in juries. .She was taken to Marietta Hospital where it will be necessary for her to remain in a .cast for a period of six weeks.
