Mr. Bennett outlined the soil testing project which the club is sponsoring. It was very creditable to the members of the club and to those carrying out the project when all mem­ bers present expressed their en­ thusiasm for the new project by agreeing unanimously to take a soil test on their farms. Joint Meeting At the joint meeting the club members put on a very com­ mendable variety program. Ho­ ward Pym was chairman for the program which got under way with Helen Shapton singing a. solo. Orchestra tion and a reading. Ross Dobson sang a solo and the Thames Road Or­ chestra gave, two selections. Mr. Gordon Bennett, the Agri­ cultural Representative, sang two comical songs. Harry Hern gave a report of the week he spent at the Junior Farmers F/L C. E. Snider of Dorval, Quebec, visited over the week­ end with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Snider. Dr. A. D. C. and Mrs. McLagan of Preston visited recently with Mrs. William Winer, Mrs. Winer returned with them to visit for a few weeks. Mr. Ross Dick, of near Zurich, is much improved after having pneumonia. His son, Douglas, was confined to his .bed but is now some better. Rev. S. M. Beach, of Yonge Street United Church, Toronto, made a visit Tuesday to Mrs. A. Follick, who is her home here. Mr. and Mrs. C. .Swift Current and Ellis, of Regina, are visiting the home o;f Mrs. Ellis’ brother, Mr. J. G. 'Cochrane. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. N. Rey­ nolds, of London, caalled on friends in Exeter Wednesday on their way home from visiting for a few days in Clinton. Mrs. E. Johns and Mrs. Ben Makins are visiting in London and Ingersoll this week and are also attending the fiftieth Gold­ en anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Makins, of Springford. Mr. Charles Monteith spent Sunday with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Goddard at Ilderton. Miss Ella Monteith, who visited for a week with Mr. and Mrs. God­ dard, returned home on Sunday and Mrs, Ross Hughes children, of Burgessville. of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schutz and Jurl Jr., of Detroit, were week­ end guests of Rev. II. J. and Mrs. Mahoney. Mr. Bruce McCllnehey, of Var­ na, has sold his garage and trucking business to Mr. Mel Webster, of the Bayfield Road. Mrs. William Winer visited with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Chambers, and with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Dinney for a few days.
