Hensall Council The regular meeting of the Hensall Village Council was held August 3 at 8:00 pan. in the Council Chamber with all hers present. The minutes of the last lar meeting were read mem- Home from West Three Exeterites enjoyed a motor trip to the West, sold the car and then returned individu ally by train.. The boys were Glen McTavish, Eldred Simmons' and Donald Traquair. The three motored as far as Calgary and Banff, taking in the Calgary Stampede and then disposed ol the car purchased by the former two to make the trip. Glen Mc Tavish returned early. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Merkley, Shirley and Phyllis and Mrs. A. Y. Willard have returned after a pleasant motor trip to Ganan- oque, Ottawa and Peterboro. While at Gananoque they enjoy ed a boat trip through the Thousand Islands. Miss Violet Willis and Mrs. Annie Brown, of Marlette, Mich, and Mrs. Jane Elson, of Tampa Florida, were in town the ^arly part of the week calling on friends in the neighborhood. Mrs Brown and Mrs. Elson are daughters of the late ~ Thomas Bisset, Sr., a resident of Exeter. Mrs. had not been here for four years and noticed improvement town hall were her only landmarks of her last visit. The three ladies are staying in Hensall. These were considered and filed- It was moved by Middleton and Jones that by-law 19, 1948, pedlars and hawkers, and the li censing of the same, be given first and second readings. It was moved by Brown and Parke that by-law 19, 1948, be given a third and final reading and finally passed and forward ed to the Department of Munici pal Affairs for its approval. The clerk was appointed Li cense Inspector and a by-law of confirmation was drawn up on the motion of Jones and Brown. Bills and accounts were read, as follows: J. A. Paterson, ex penses and mileage (Goderich), $4.55; F. Harburn, salary, $125; F. G. Bonthron, postage, $5.00; J. Bonthron & Sons, repairs, hall $1.25; C. Johnston, repairs, sts., $15.25; Bell Telephone, service, $3.15; T. Welsh & Son, use of log boat, $5.00; C.N.R., rent, $1.00; W. Jones, labour, hall, $6.'20; A. Cochrane, labour, hall, $5.75; Hensall Hydro Commis sion, hydro, Pfaff, labour, R. MacKinnon, streets, $2.50; plies, street and hall, C. Reid, trucking gravel, etc., and hall, $70.00. Total $280.66. It was moved by Parke and Middleton that the accounts as read be paid. The council billed J. Pfaff to the amount of $10.00 for the use of the mower, as moved by Jones* and Brown. Brown and Middleton moved that the clerk be instructed to add the following charge to the collector’s roll; Rannie estate, 3^ hours cutting weeds at 50c per hour, $1.75. The clerk was instructed to apply for the annual refund on the cost of snow removal from King Street, on the motion of Parke and Jones. The Hensall Village Council will ask the Minister of High ways to resurface King Street in the village, similar to the work being done on Highway that vicinity. A police cap, billy, and hand cuffs were ordered for the Con stable, on the motion of Jones and Brown.
