WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY June 23 and 24 ‘Voice of the Turtle’ Comedy Drama — with ® Ronald Regan ® Eleanor Parker and All Star Cast Couple Honored Friends and relatives gather­ ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs John Hunkin on Friday night, June 18th, to honor Mr. and Mrs. Eric Heywood. Comic read­ ings were given by Mrs. Nelson Lamport and Mrs. James Bower. Several piano solos were given by Miss Betty Allison and Mr. Eric Heywood. Mr. Ted Lamport read the address while little Miss Grace MacKenzie and Miss Barbara Allison wheeled in a beautifully decorated buggy lad­ en with gifts. Eyic thanked those present in a few well chos­ en words aftei' which all joined in singing "‘For They are Jolly Good Fellows.” A dainty lunch was served. Relatives were pres­ ent from London, Wheatley, Centralia, Crediton, Exeter, Kip­ pen, Zurich and Thames Road. MONDAY, TUESDAY June 28 and 29 ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ Motion Picture Academy Award Winner — Starring — ® Gregory Peck ® Dorothy Maguire ® John Garfield ® Celeste Holm Pre-Nuptial Shower (Intended for last week) On Tuesday, June 15th, the members of the Pentecostal As­ sembly held a miscellaneous shower for Susan van der Lei and Bruce Cann at Mr. Sylvan- nus Cann's home. The evening opened with singing of choruses. Marjorie Cudmore gave a recita­ tion. Mrs. Alfred Graham sang '“The Pilot's Hand”. Marjorie Cudmore read the address and Margaret Blanchard and Susie vander Lei presented the gifts. Susan received many useful and lovely gifts. She expressed her thanks and Bruce made a fitting reply expressing gratitude. A lovely lunch was served and best wishes were expressed for the happiness and prosperity of the bride and groom to be. Mr. James Morley, who is in Victoria hospital, is improving. Mrs. W. Lyon, of Londesboro, is visiting with Mrs. D. A. Anderson. Mrs. Neil Gillespie, of Toronto is visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kestle. Monday, June 21st, was the longest day of the year and the beginning of summer. Dr. and Mrs. A. J. MacKinnon visited with theii’ parents at Ex­ eter and Zurich over the week­ end. The many friends of Mr. Rd. Welsh will be sorry to know he is ill in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Mrs. Wm. H. Dearing is ser­ iously ill at her home on Huron Street having suffered a stroke on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lyon Francis and Vera visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Ar­ thur Kerslake. Misses Phyliss Kerslake and Gladys Turner, of London, vis­ ited over the week-end at the former’s home in Usborne. Miss Eleaiior Hunkin has tak­ en a position in Clerk C. V. Pic­ kard’s office. Mrs. J. Strange was at Brins­ ley on Monday attending the fu­ neral of the late Mrs. Cyril Mor­ley. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Trotter, of Stratford, visited foi’ a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gor­ don Cudmore, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Elliott, of Sarnia, visited on Sunday with the former’s father, Mr. Thomas Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Russell, Bob and Jim spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dettmer, of Ayr. A much needed shower visited this section Tuesday and should greatly help the backward growth in field and garden. Mr. Edgai* Hunkin, who has been in Victoria Hospital for several weeks, suffering from a fractured vertabrae, returned home Sunday. Mrs. Rose H.
