White, G5 of 2wl Wortley Road. London, died suddenly Thursday in St. Jos­ eph’s Hospital. He was born in Hensall and has been a resident of London for 2S years. He was a member of St. John’s Lodge Number 2') A.F. & A.M. and an active member of St. Paul’s Cathedral. His is survived by his widow Vera Mat-Callum White, two sons, Dr. W. Harold White. Sarnia. J John E, White. London, two sisters. Mrs. D. Boxwell, Ohio, Mrs. R. Hardy, Detroit, six bro­ thers. Roy, London. J. H., De- jtroit, Kenneth, Detroit, Frank, ‘Toronto, Elwin, Burlington, and Harry, Calgary, three grand­ children. Funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Millard George Funeral Home. Burial was in Woodland Cemet­ ery, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bon- thron, Mrs. L. Simpson and Miss Helen Swan attended the funeral. Robert Caldwell Dies Funeral service was held at the Evans Funeral Chapel, Lon­ don on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Robert Caldwell, aged 72, a native of Hensall, whose body was found at Springbank Park on Sunday. Guest pews of the church were marked with tiny nosegays of Sweet Beas and Forget-me- nots. Mr. Kenneth Mills, of Woodham, presided at the organ hnd prior to the entrance of the bridal party, Mrs. Margaret Fletcher, of Hamilton, sang “Be­ cause” and .during the signing of the register “The Lord’s Prayer.’’ Entering the church with her father, the bride wore white satin, the full skirt extending into a train. A full-length illu­ sion veil- fell from a beaded headdress and she carried an arm bouquet of American .Beau­ ty roses and stephanotis. Her only ornament was a necklace of pearls and earrings to match, the gift of the groom. Miss Rhea Smith, sister of the groom, was maid of honor and wore pink taffeta with fitted bodice and full skirt. She carried a crescent bouquet of sweet peas and car­ nations. The bridesmaids wore identically styled gowns of taf­ feta. Miss Ruth Ratz, of Wind­ sor, wore green, Miss Helen Shapton, of Exeter, wore yellow and Miss Marilyn Blatchford, of Detroit, wore mauve. They car­ ried crescent bouquets of Sweet Peas and carnations. Little Miss Rosemary Smith, sister of the groom, was flower girl in a white floor-length taffeta gown, and carried a nosegay of sweet peas, carnations and forget-me- nots. The attendants all wore matching bonnet-shaped head­ dresses and mittens. Little Vernon Heywood, of Exeter, in blue jacket and white trousers, acted as ring bearer. The best man was Ray McCurdy, of Kirk­ ton. The ushers were L. Jaques, of Woodham, and E. Gough, of St. Marys. ‘ Following the .ceremony a reception was held at Knotty Pine Inn, > London. For her daughter’s ’wedding Mrs. Brock wore a blue crepe frock, lace-1 trimmed, and hat of natural straw with a corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. C. Smith, moth­ er of the groom, wore grey crepe with navy accessories with a corsage of pink carnations. Later for their honeymoon the bride donned a navy gabardine suit with white accessories and I an orchid corsage. On their re­ turn Mr. and Mrs. L. Smith will reside in Woodham. Mr. Wesley Jaques, of Gen-1 tralia, has purchased the home ; of Mr. E. J. Wethey on John St. Pocketful of Dreams Some of our contempories run a column of things seen on the streets. Had they been in Exe­ ter this week the following item would have hit the headlines. A traveller was making a call on one of the local stores and was carrying in what looked like some innocent parcels when out slipped a bottle of the stuff that cheers and fell to the side­ walk, smashing the bottle and spilling the contents. Someone was left with that “How dry I am” feeling. Couple Honoured A very pleasant evening was spent at the home of Mr. Sylvan- us Cann on Thursday, June 11 when thirty-five young people of the Pentecostal Sunday School met to honor Susan van der Lei and Bruce Cann previous to their marriage. Choruses and duets were sung after which Mrs. Dur­ and read the address and Mrs. Edward Butler interpreted it in Holland language. Pearl Cann presented the gift. Susan expres­ sed her thanks in her own langu­ age and Mrs. Butler interpreted in English. The remainder of the evening was spent in a social time and lunch was served. The best wishes of the young people were expressed for the happiness of Susan and Bruce. EDGEWOOD Rev. A, E. Lloyd, of St. Thomas was guest speaker at Wesley United Church anniver­ sary services on Sunday. A ham supper was served Tuesday evening at Wesley Un­ ited Church. Misses Margaret and Bernice Westman, of London, spent the week-end at their home. Miss Dorothy. Moore is home for a few weeks while Mrs. Paisley is a patient in Victoria Hospital.
