During the early part of the meeting, in, the absence of the reeve, Councillor Cochrane as chairman. The minutes of the last lar meeting of May 17th acted regu- were read and adopted on the motion of Councillors Caldwell and Al­ lison. Communications were read and dealt with as follows: The Ontario Municipal Board, approval of capital expenditure, $5,900.00, wartime housing pur­ poses. —-Filed. The Ontario Municipal Board, approval of expenditure, $48000 on waterworks extension. -—Fil­ ed. Goulding Rose & Co. Ltd., in regard to the District High School debenture. --Filed. Victoria Hospital, regarding hospitalization. —Filed. Queen Alexander Sanatorium, regarding hospitalization; to be investigated. Bell Telephone Canada, regarding ance. —Filed. Permit granted to have detailed plans prepared and ten­ ders called. Exeter Public School Board, regarding acceptance of respon­ sibility of debenture debt on present high school building. — Tabled. The Exeter Gun Club through Councillor Allison, invited the reeve, council and clerk to visit their club. The invitation was accepted with thanks. Mr. Ed Anderson waited on council, asking permission move a building onto property on East William St. The council promised to view the building. Mr. Russell Hedden appeared before the council, asking that ; the amount of the taxes on his two properties on East Andrew St. be reconsidered. The council advised Mr. Hedden that any complaint should be made at the time of assessment, and that it 1 was not in the power of the council to change the amount of taxes. Building permits were applied for and granted .as follows: Jones & May, new store fronts; Ernest L. Davis, house on West Andrew St.: N. R. Blatcliford, renovate house to apartments; Arthur Fraser, closing in veran­ dah; M. W. Alderson, a garage; Frank King, shingling house and garage; John Caldwell, cottage on West Main. Mr. Russell Balkwill applied for permission to build house on East Main. The cbuncil will view the location of the house on Mary Ella Walker £ After a lingering illness of a couple of years, Mrs. Wm. G. Walker, whose maiden name was Mary Ella Sliapton, passed away Monday at her residence on Main street. Deceased was in her 72nd year and long resident of the Mr. Walker is at North Battleford, will arrive for the funeral which will take place Thursday after­ noon from the R, funeral home with Snell officiating.
