FISHING will open in a way for anglers on May 15th, the opening of the pike and pic­ kerel season. These are the ones that thrive in fairlj&^arm water but the sluggish Aust Sables proved to be a little too warm even for them. Hugh Frank Radcliffe. 19 year-old pitcher for a Thomaston, Georgia, high school, accomplished the seem­ ingly impossible feat of striking out 28 batters in a nine-inning game. Not satisfied with whiffing 27 men for the usual number of putouts, Radcliffe fanned the extra batter after his catcher dropped a third strike and allowed the batter to reach first safely. It wasn’t a no- hitter, though his team von with a score of 10-0. The opposing team’s catcher got to first base for his team’s only hit. The “baseball wonder" is shown above on the bench.
