'KSW. G T. U. The Hensall-Exeter Branch of the Women's Christian Temper- ence Union met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Cook for the January meeting with a fair attendance. Mrs. Cook took charge of the devotional period and opened by singing, “Lord Plant My Feet on Higher Ground”, and read the scripture lesson, taken from Matthew, 14th chapter, and all repeated the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. W. C. Pearce read artiicles on cigarette smoking, and the drinking and driving problem. A statement was made as to Canada’s liquor bill today is al most 500,000,000 annually or $1,370, 000 for every day of the year. Yet an estimate of the average church offering is 4c a person. A letter was read that had been received by Mrs. Min ers from the Testament Mission ary Union requesting prayers for acheivement in Evangelism, Prayer was offered by Mrs, Miners. Mrs. E. Geiger took the chair and conducted the busi ness. It was reported that $25 had been sent to the Budget Fund, and $5.00 for printing expenses. It was the voice of the meeting that the candidates for the forth-coming election be ap proached, requesting them to express their attitude regarding traffic.
