Zurich Nearly Upsets Exeter;
Dashwood Wins From Airport
Exeter came from behind in
the last fourteen minutes to
snatch a 4-2 victory from a
game Zuricli sextet in the first
encounter of Thursday night’s
doubleheader,
Robinson and O'Dwyer gave
the visitors a two-goal edge in
the first period. Combining
close-checking and Schroeder's
brilliant net guarding Zurich
held their lead throughout the
second and on .into the third,
After a very poor hockey ex
hibition the first-place Exeter-
ites began to take the game
more earnestly in the third but
it was not until eight miuutes
had elapsed that Fletcher gave
Exeter their first tally. From
there on in Exeter played five
men inside the Zurich blueline
almost continually.
Several minutes later Ryck-
man flipped Bill Tuckey’s pass
over the sprawled Schroeder to
tie the count. Then with but
three minutes to go Tuckey slid
the disc from the corner along
the left boards to a waiting
Shaw who bulged the hemp for
the winning goal.
Before the game ended Har
Brintnell broke away after tak
ing the puck from Weido to
coast in unmolested on Schroed
er and add another marker for
good measure.

FROM .ALE REPORTS hockey
fans are much in favor of the
earlier starting of this year’s

out saying the players are all
for it too. With the exception of
the third and fourth double
headers which were delayed by
the late arrival of an outside
referee the other three games
have been .under way by at least

this season there seems
keen rivalry between the boys
and
more out of it than in former
years. It’s the only way to de
velop hockey players for the
future. For its .size Exeter
should have a team in the lea

only by bringing the young lads
along as soon as they can skate
that this appears to be possible.
