BRAY CHICK HATCHERY Phone 246, Exeter Eric Carscadden, Manager finishing ahead of their rivals at the end of the regular schedule, From goal out the local squad staged one mf their best perfor mances in several seasons. They outskated and outfought the airmen in convincing style. Three goals in the first period sent Exeter into a handy lead. From there on they matched .the Airmen’s only tally in the sec ond period and then netted their fifth goal in the final frame. Exeter had a .decided edge in the first period as Ross Tuckey sent' Doug and Har Brintnell goalward with a long forward pass that ended with Doug catching the 'hemp behind .Mc Leod. iShaw then went on a two- goal spree. Ryckman gave him a hand in the first one and Shaw took the puck from an airman at the Centralia defence and went in to heat McLeod. The Airmen enjoyed the edge in territorial play early in the second and it was then that they came Up with their -only tally when rink-wide nicely fence and skate in on toil of Smith to score. Towards the end of the period Exeter was back in their wanning stride again and Har Brintnell’s shot glanced in to the Centralia net off an air man in a .goal-mouth scramble after he and Stire had worked the disc into the Centralia zone. In the last period Exeter got the only score when from a face off near the Centralia Tuckey got the puck Trites who flipped it McLeod. Lucan Edges Hensall In the second game Lucan edged the Hensall entry by a 3-2 score. The soft ice was badly cut up for this encounter and made for close-checking hockey. The second period was the pay-off session for Harvey Langford’s boys. The Irish scored all three goals in that period. Hensall scored one in the first and the other in the third. Stephan’s pass from the corn er was banged in by Harold Nicholson for the lone marker of the first period that gave Hensall the-lead until the next period. Hearn and MacRoberts combined on .a two-way play in side the ^Hensall zone with Hearn netting the equalizer early in the second. Norm Hardy put them one up slapping in Revington’s rebound. Before the middle period ended Paul, Mac- Roberts and Hearn combined to make it 3-1 with Paul finding the range. In a last effort near the end of the game Hildebrand scored on a shot that glanced in off Hindmarsh, and from then on the Hensall team swarmed Lucas’ doorstep but were held off the score sheet by ,the deter mined Irish. A.A. hockey group shows1 Exeter on top of the league with four straight wins, while the Lucan squad is right behind with five points, The difficulty this yeai’ in compiling the standing arises from the fact that all teams but Grand Bend play their home games in Exeter. This means that the matches with the Bend are single pointers and in the ease of the Zurich-Grand Bend tie game, each team splits for a half-point. * WITH SO with skating season the one most likely to be voted Exeter’s busiest man is R.
