With but a half-minute to go and down one goal, Zurich pulled goalie Schroedei’ and Bill O’Brien grabbed a loose puck straight in front of the Bend net and drove a 15-footer past Kuffner just ten seconds before the bell sounded the game’s end. In their first game, Zurich pot ted two goals in the opening per iod to take a 2-0 lead against the Bend who had fashioned a con vincing win in their first start. Bobinson and O’Brien were the marksmen. In the second, however, Wally Desjardine potted Norris’ rebound and Norris^ the sparkplug of the Bend squad, got the equilizei’ on a smart solo sortie and then scored again before the period’s end to give the Bend the lead. Neither team scored in the last stanza until O’Brien drove in the counter that gave then a 3-3 tie. GRAND BEND—Goal, Kuffner; defence, Stewart, A. Bossenberry; centre, Bestard; wings, W. and I.
