Wethey who was in command of the only Canadian Army with No. 1 -Special Wireless Group which recently made a 3000 mile trip from Darwin through the heart of Australia to Sydney, is a son of Harry L. Wethey, of Oak­ ville, and a nephew of E. J. Wethey of Exeter. He has been in Exeter once. ,Lt. Col. Wethey was on H.Q. Staff, Ottawa, and later represented Canada at Washington. Before go­ ing to Australia he was head of a Signal school in British Columbia. The unit, conveyed in 90 vehicles, set out on October 24 from Darwin to Alice Springs and reached the camp on the outskirts of1 Sydney after travelling through South Aus­ tralia, Victoria a’hd into New South Wales. They were tendered elabor­ ate civic receptions including those at Adelaide where the convoy spent ,a week and at Watsoriia Camp.
