Young, Mrs. Young and family, of F'ergus, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred G, Bon- thron on Friday. Mrs. Ed. Fink returned home on /Saturday following an operation for appendicitis in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth. A very enjoyable spent at th© home of Kenneth MacLean on neighbors and friends gathered at ■a miscellaneous shower in honor of Mrs. Suplat (nee Miss Marian Green.) Bingo and contests were enjoyed after which the bride was presented with many beautiful gifts. Refreshments were served at the close. ‘ Induction Service Induction service for Rev. Percy Ferguson, formerly of Wiarton, was held in Cannel Presbyterian Churcn, Hensail, on Friday evening. Rev. George Milne, of Brussels, conduct ed the worship service, Rev. H. Williams, of Seaforth, narrated the steps leading up to the induction. The induction ceremony was con ducted by Rev. C. H. McDonald, of Lucknow. Rev. Kenneth MacLean, of Exeter, addressed Rev. Fergu son and Rev. C. H. McDonald ad dressed the congregation. The choir assisted by their former choir leader, Mr. W. |A:. . MacICaren, of Goderich, sang an anthem 'entitled “ The Lord is My Rock and Salva tion", with Mrs. Jas. Paterson as .soloifeb. Following the service a ■reception was held when Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart received the con gregation and introduced them to Rev. and Mrs. Ferguson. Refresh ments were served at the close. Mrs. John Jackson Dies Mrs. John Jackson, living on No. 4 Highway, of Hensall, died Fri day, Sept. 7, in her 90th year fol lowing two days’ illness with a heart ailment. Prior to her being taken ill she had been active and did her own work. Formerly Miss Ellen Jane McBride, she was born in Wicklow, Ireland, and had lived in the vicinity of Hensall for 50 years. She was a member of Hen sall United Church, .Surviving are three sons, Isaac and John, of High River, Alta., and Robert, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Brierley, of Exeter; Mrs. Ross McLean, Detroit, Mrs. William Smith, of Detroit, and Mrs. Wesley Coleman, Hensall. The funeral service was held in Hensall United Church .Sunday at 2.30 p.m., conducted by Rev.“ Davla ■Wren. Pallbearers were six grand sons. . Those attending from a dis tance were Mr. Alvin Ingram, Mr. and Mrs. W,m. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. McLean, of Detroit, and 'D. Robert Jackson, Toronto. Mrs. Clarence Fahrner and daughter spent the week-end with the former's parents in Zurich. Mr. Gerald Smith underwent an operation in Victoria Hospital on Monday. Gerald’s friends hope to see him back in his place of busi ness soon. Miss Irene Trueblood is spending a couple of weeks in Toronto. Miss Clara Gaiser, spent' the week-end here. George F, a retired minister cal church, and a ton died Tuesday Tavistock. the late Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Brown and served for 51 years in the ministry. He is survived by his widow and two sons. The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Aid and W.M.S. of the Evangelical Church was held at the home o'f Mrs. M. E. Reuber with 25 members present. Mrs. A. Amy was in change ,of the Devotional period. Mrs, John Morlock read the scripture, Matthew 16, Gaiser gave a reading Loyalty followed by a Prayer by Mrs. Amy. Haist read a poem and prayer for the Missionaries was offered by Mrs. Beaver. The last chapter of the Study Book was taken by Mrs. E. Fahrner, Mrs. Royal Gaiser ana Mrs. A. Amy and proved both in teresting and instructive. Mrs. Ed. Finkbeiner gave a solo .which was much appreciated. Mrs. Reuber pre sided during the business period. Arrangements were made for the Missionary Rally to be held in the Church on Sept. 21st, at 3 p.m. Lunch was served and a vote of thanks to the hostess and commit tees was given by Mrs. D.
