The Ladies’ Aid of the Lutheran congregation were entertained to a social evening at the home of Mrs. Fassold last Wednesday evening. The evening was spent in making quilt patches for the Red Cross foi lowed by a few games after which a delightful lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Fassold and Mrs. Kraft. Mr. T. Harry Hoffman attended the, funeral of the late Mr. W. A. Hunt, funeral director in London last Wednesday where he was one of' the honorary pallbearers. Burmeister, of the 14th concession Hay Township, met with a very painful accident on Monday afternoon while he and his son, Courtney were lowering a sleigh in the driving shed, the sleigh slipping caught his clothes causing him to fall with the sleigh to the cement floor below. He was attended by Dr. R. H. Marshall acted as chairman, and also gave the financial report of the past year. Mr. Jack Urquhart was appointed secretary-treasurer and a committee of boys were ap­ pointed to sell season’s tickets. They are Mr. Ottis Sawyer, J. Urqu­ hart, R. Paynter, L. Paul and Grant Mills. Up to date they have sold $5'0'.00 worth of tieqets. A hockey schedule composing three teams was drawn up. R. Paul, L. Paul and R. McNaughton are captains. Some 135 enjoyed themselves at the Rink Saturday night which shows the interest the young people arc taking in their home town. Class Meeting Mrs. W. Batten lent her home for the January meeting of the “Class That Counts”. The theme used throughout the meeting was “New Beginnings.” Our new presidents Doris O’Callaghan, opened the meet­ ing with a. few appropriate words,, following Which hymn 444 was sung. Evelyn Hammond led in prayer. The Scripture was read by HndSu Smith. It was decided to hold quilt­ ing at Doris O’Callaghan’s on 'Wed­ nesday, January 19.
