He was attended by Dr. D. G. Steer. Rev. R. A. Brook conducted the service in the United church on Sunday morning. Miss Helen Dick ably presided at the organ. Mrs. Hedden and Mrs. Hess sang a beau­ tiful duet. Th6 dwelling of Mr. Thos. Sher- ritt just east of the village was struck with lightning during the thunder storm on Sunday morning. The chimney was torn off the house and other damage done. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schwalm were visited on Sunday by Misses Mae and Margaret Schwalm, of London. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Schwalm, of Stratford; Austin, of Exeter and Lee and Ray, of Zurich. Deputy Registrars Sleet The Deputy Registrars of Huron Perth met in the Town Hall here on Friday evening. The meeting opened by singing “God Save the King’’. Mr. W. H. Golding M.P. ad­ dressed the meeting. Mr. Keith Mac- Lean, registrar for Huron-Perth ex­ plained how to fill in the registra­ tion cards. He was assisted by Mr. W. L. ‘Whyte, chairman of the vol­ untary committee. The meeting closed by singing “O Canada.’’ Shower lor Bride About one hundred neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dalrymple and presented their daughter Ruby whose marriage took place on Sat­ urday with a miscellaneous shower. Community singing was enjoyed with Miss Doris Kercher at the piano. Piano solos given by Miss Kercher were much enjoyed. Little Dorothy Mae Keyes and Marjorie Cudmore presented the gifts to the bride in a pink and white basket. Miss Earla Treffry read the address. The bride's mother received in eggshell sheer crepe and the groom’s mother received in black triple sheer, both wearing cor­ sages of rosebuds. The bride's table was adorned with rosebuds and cen­ tred with the wedding cake. Serv­ ing were the Misses Evelyn Lawson, of London; Nellie Harkness, Tees­ water; Beryl Wilson, Auburn and Agnes Appleton, of Hensall. There were forty guests present from Teeswater, Lucknow, Seaforth, Lon­ don, Grand Bend, 'Cromarty and Hensall. The young couple left amid showers of confetti and best wishes for a motor trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto. The bride tra­ velled in a navy ensemble. Miss Hazel Woodall returned home Sunday after spending two months at Wigwassan Lodge. Mr. McKenzie, of London, is re­ lieving Mr. Teller at the local branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce. Mr. Ed. Lippert is operating the township grader at Pt. Albert Air­ port where extensive grading is now being done. Credit is due the council for this grader which has made a great improvement on the roads. Mr. Harold Amy of the Laboratory staff of the General Hospital, Ham­ ilton, spent the past two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Amy and other friends. The annual Garden Party held on Friday evening on Die Athletic Grounds under the auspices of the Women’s Association of the United church was a great success. Ideal weather conditions prevailed and a large crowd was present. The Hen­ rich Memorial Band of Dashwood, were in attendance and provided much appreciative entertainment, The several booths did a flourish­ ing business and the net proceeds of over $3 6.00 was turned over to the local Red Cross Unit. The members of the Ladies' Aid. are papering the large entrance hall­ way of the manse during the ab­ sence of Rev. and Mrs. Jamieson who are on holidays this month. THAMES ROAD The Thames Road Woman's As­ sociation recently visited Elimville Woman’s Association. The meeting proved to be very interesting and an enjoyable time was spent by all. MOUNT CARMEL Miss Lorraine Giavin, nurse-in­ training at. St. -Marys Hospital, at Kitchener, spent Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Giavin. GRAND BEND Mrs. Bert Sando and daughter, of Crystal City, Manitoba, visited with Mrs. Lizzie England on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brown, of Greenway, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Turnbull, also Miss Maud Bolton, of London. Mr. Abner Mollard returned home Friday from Victoria Hospital, Lon­ don. where he has been quite ill, but is somewhat improved. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Elliott, of Barnin, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Abner Mollard. Two very large congregations greeted Rev. a. A. Leichliter on Sunday. Mr. Burney, of Toronto, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Lovie last week, Mrs. Emma Griesas, of Australia, is home visiting her mother, Mrs. McPherson, who is quite ill. , SAIL BOAT CAPSIZES AT IPPERWASH Five Windsor boys had a harrow­ ing experience, when their sailboat capsized about a half-mile off Ipper- wash beach. A windstorm which came up very suddenly filled the boat with water, and although the lads bailed furiously it was of no avail and the boat capsized. They finally abandoned it and swam to safety. The boat later was driven to shore by the strong winds. It was owned by the Mortons, of Wind­ sor, who are holidaying at Ipper- wash Beach. The Morton boys, the oldest 19 years of age, and three companions took the boat for a sail when the sudden squall came. Motor boats were rushed to the scene of the accident, but the five boys, all good swimmers, reached shore unaided,
