Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shepherd, of Toronto, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Smillie and Mr. and Mrs. John Shepherd. Miss Nellie Fee, who has spent the past several months at. Meet The regular meeting of the AV.M.S. of Carmel Church was held on Thursday afternoon with Mrs. C. Hudson presiding and opened, by singing a hymn followed by prayer by Mrs. Hedden. The Scripture les­ son was read by Mrs. AVorkman. The minutes were read and adopted. The roll call was answered with “Hope.” The offering was received and the business discussed. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 5th owing to the Huron Presbyterial meeting here on September the 10. A hymn was sung and Mrs. Logan led in prayer. The topic on “Glean­ ings from the Glady Tidings” were given by Mrs. Hudson. The meeting closed by singing a hymn followed by the Lord’s Prayer- in unison. Wav Time Citizens’ Committee Meet in Zurich The Hensall District War Time Citizens’ Committee met in Zurich on Thursday evening with the presi­ dent Dr. A. R. Campbell in the chair. Rev. Mr. Turkheim gave the opening prayer. Reports were given by the different committees. Re­ ports w*ere given from the commit tees which interviewed the councils. Mr. Clarence Parke was appointed to interview Stanley Council. Re­ ports were given by the overseas committee. Deputy Registrars Sleet at Hensail A well attended meeing of the deputy registrars of the Huron- Perth riding was held in the Town Hall, Hensail on Friday evening. Mr. AV. L. White, chairman of the voluntary registration committee was chairman. The meeting opened by singing “God Save the, King.” The chairman outlined the work the voluntary committee has done and gave several suggestions his how to plan their work. Mr? 'Hymn 500 was sung and Mrs. Finlayson led in prayer, Mrs, Monteith read the Scripture after which Mrs. John Cooper gave the topic which was very interesting and instructive. Beaver is making good progress with his new home on the Main street. The house, which will be a stucco finish is situated be­ tween the Evangelical church and Mr. Trevethick’s shop, work is being done by Mr. Thiel, of Zurich. The mason Garden Party Crediton Community and district are to have a real musical treat on Friday night, when rhe Henrich Memorial Band of Dashwood will play a concert at the Community Park. The Dashwood band is one of the best in this district and en­ joys a wide reputation for its smooth, tuneful music. This applies to their talented soloists as well. The proceeds for the Red Cross. Questions to Answer We heartily recommend patriotic citizens to study the questions of the National Registration in ad­ vance and to jot down their own answers in advance. This will great­ ly simplify the task of the regis­ trars, and will also avoid much con­ fusion, delay and crowding when the questionnaire is being checked up. Here is one way in which people can help considerably and we hope that the public here will respond. Post Nuptial Shower On Thursday evening of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris.
