Moise were at Lucknow Friday afternoon of last week attending the funeral of cousin, Mrs. Hazel Irwin. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Goodman, Highland Park, Mich., returned their home Tuesday after visiting with the latter’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schroeder. Mrs. James Grassick, of Varna, is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. F. Wildfong, of Hay. Mrs. Grassick has been ill in the Scott Memorial Hos­ pital, Seaforth, and is now recuper­ ating. Marguerite Hogarth was winner of the second prize at the Ken Soble amateur hour at the Patricia Theatre London, Wednesday evening of last week. Marguerite was awarded a pen and pencil set. Mr. and Mrs. Barnard Langtree, Mr. Frank and Miss Ada Campbell, and Mr. Leslie Pope, of Saginaw, Mich., visited on Monday wtli Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell and with Mrs. Mary Gould, who is at present i-onfined to the home of Mr. Camp­ bell through illness. They also visit­ wit h their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. G. Bell, of Hensall. Mr. Clinton Sweet and Miss Irene, accompanied by Miss Hettie Sweet, of London, motored to Windsor, on Sunday to visit Mr. Harry Sweet who is in the hospital suffering from a serious operation. His progress is as favorable as can he expected. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sweet, of Cleveland also visited with him after which the entire party visited with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Scott, of Windsor. The remainder of the day was spent in Detroit, Mr. and Mrs, Eric Hurdon, of De­ troit, visited with Ml’, and Mrs. W. R. Cooper of Kippen, and at Devon, the forepart of the week and on Monday called on friends in Exeter. Mrs, Hurdon and daughter Lenore recently returned from visiting her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hurdon, of Phoenix, Ariz. While there they visited in Mexico and the Grand Canyon, Roosevelt Dam and Byrce Canyon. Coward, who lias been ill in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, continues to improve and is now able to sit up a little. Mr. S. J. Elliot, who is in the same hospital is slow­ ly improving. A special train for the Royal visit in London on June 7 will leave Wingham and arrive in Exeter at 6:50 a.m. to arrive in London at 8.00 a.m. Returning the train will leave London at 1.30 a.m. and arrive in Exeter at 2.34. There will be a Conservative rally in Exeter Friday evening of this week when the annual meeting of the Huron-t’erth Conservative Asso­ ciation will he held in the Exeter Arena. The principal speaker Will be Col. George A, Drew* leader of the Conservative Party in Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Fraser, of De­ troit, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fraser during the week. Rev. A. Page and Rev. R. C. Cope­ land with Mr. G. S. Howard are in London this week attending the Con­ ference of the United Church. Neigh­ boring ministers are also in attend­ ance. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Moir, of Stet­ tler, Alta., are in Exeter visiting with Mr. Moir’s mother, Mrs. John Moil’ and With Mrs. Moir’s mother, Mrs. Mary Gould. The latter is ill at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell. On their way East Mr. and Mrs. Moir were fortunate in getting a close-up view of their Ma­ jesties when the two trains met at one of the stations. Both parties were standing on Mie observation platform of theft respective trains on ne&r-by trades. The prospects for crops around Stettler were good as there had been plenty of mois­ ture.
